HUNTINGTON BEACH – Who says police work can't sometimes be fun and games?

Around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Huntington Beach police Officer Scott Marsh was on patrol when he spotted what he believed was a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot at Cross Park near the intersection of Graham Street and Edinger Avenue.

There he discovered an unidentified woman and her 11-year-old daughter had been living out of their car, said Officer Jennifer Marlatt, spokeswoman for the Huntington Beach Police Department.

I wish BLMers would realize that most cops answer the question “why are you a cop” with “to help people.”

They believe this to their core and are willing to die for it.

It is our job to not allow the latter.

Hey, I live in HB.

I hope he didn’t write “Trump 2016” in chalk on the sidewalk. He’d have to arrest himself.

If it’s practical, I always thank cops for their service.

Hey, I live in HB.
I spent a lot of time in Huntington Beach and Long Beach back in the early 70's. Worked on some tuna boats, surfed a little - almost settled there. It's probably a bit different nowadays.

Nice story. Thanks for posting. It’s sad that the girl apparently didn’t know how to play hop scotch.

In HB there are a couple of dozen or more permanently homeless that essentially live at the beach, both city beach and Huntington State Beach parks.

Officers and park rangers sort of monitor them enough, that they don’t bother people and they don’t openly smoke dope very much.

The article is about the woman and her daughter living in a vehicle in a residential neighborhood, which gets serious attention.

Huntington Beach is of a few California cities that compete for safest in the country. White, above average incomes, etc.

I encounter a few homeless people during our dog adoption events at Centinela Pet Supply in Costa Mesa (Harbor and Wilson). They never bother anyone.

Irvine is usually among the safest cities in the country as well.

“great

Two categories. One are those who have seasonal day passes and vehicles—several have motorhomes. They scatter to their secret spots, and

The others are on foot, with carts for their belongings etc. They seem to walk inland from the beach to places I do not know of and don’t go looking for either.

I have seen a few of them continuously for several years.

A HBPD officer told me once, it is not against the law to be homeless.

The officers give them just enough attention, to suggest drugs and alcohol will get them in trouble. Hassling citizens will to.

So they are generally quiet and fairly docile. I want no problems, for I walk there too.

Don’t know but the story is on the southern California news programs so I am sure they are sleeping someplace safe.
