I think Cruz has only won ONE open primary state I believe (Oklahoma OT Texas). The rest of his wins were closed primaries or caucuses.
As soon as I found out that the Marquette poll showing Cruz leading by 10 was only of likely Republican voters, I immediately discounted the poll knowing Wisconsin is an open primary and also knowing Trump has lots of blue collar union democrat and independent supporters who will be voting for him in Wisconsin.
The GOP primary race in Wisconsin is more than likely a dead heat there.
States Cruz can won that Romney lost: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Virginia, Ohio, among others. I say this because Hillary has such high negatives, which will cause many dems to stay home. The only thing that will bring them to the polls to vote for Hillary is if Trump is our nominee.
Yes, I understand that Trump wold get some blue dog dem votes and even some first time voters, but I think he alienates more voters than he brings.
Actually of the 16 or 17 republican candidates that we stayed with, Trump is the only one that hillary could beat. She’s just that toxic. That’s why I believe that Cruz or any republican other than Trump can win the states listed above. I could be wrong, but that’s my opinion. This is not being derogatory toward Trump, just stating the general election as I see it.
It should be framed as a vote against sold-out establishment pols. And then demonstrate that Cruz is not one of them.
It’s Trump or Hillary.
And how is Rump going to do that? Go on more radio shows in Wisconsin and expose himself as supremely ignorant and shallow, only able to just mumble 5 seconds sound bites in response to every serious question from the interviewer, as he has done twice?
Or maybe he can keep bashing Walker, with stupid lies that the majority of Republic voters in the state know are false?
Or maybe he can get his best buddy Pecker at the Enquirer to concoct another sleaze story? That didn't work out so well did it? Huge blow-back and drop in the polls.
Or he'll keep mumbling something about the wall
You have to admit he is the BEST at all of those things.:)
You are right about not knowing how many democrats/indies will cross over and vote for Trump considering the democRat race is competitive as well. I believe many blue collar types will still cross over for Trump, but don’t know if it would overcome Cruz’s lead over registered GOP voters.
I personally don’t believe Cruz is leading Trump by 10 points when you count all likely GOP primary voters (if you include democrats/indies). It is likely a dead heat and will count on turnout.
Daddy, what is the nuc-le-are tri-add?
Daddy, when will the Supreme Court investigate Hillary's emails?
Trump carries that Pierrot expression on his face. He looks like he pulled his clothes out of the laundry basket. Heidi, after the release of the info alleging her husband should work for Brazzers, looked like a pillowcase stuffed with the weeks underwear on the way to the washer.
It's all very Dickensian. They are the Smallweeds. They cap it off by making Mrs. Murdstone part of their family.(At the cost of Half a mil.) All they need now is a family truckster with Carly in a rocker on the roof.
Thank God I am a Conservative! I am terrified you are correct. Liberals posing as RINOs
When Trump announces his 3rd party run will you still support him?
When Trump announces his 3rd party run will you still support him?
When Trump announces his 3rd party run will you still support him?
And the best part is if she wins, we can thank Cruz, Pro-Life Groups, and half of Talk Radio for piling on, helping make her presidency possible-

Of course, Trump himself is blameless
Thank You.
The article is wrong as to Ann Coulter—Coulter’s column today states her opinion that Trump is the only candidate with a chance of winning the general. She points out (and I believe convincingly, though others may disagree) that it is difficult to identify a state that Cruz could win that Romney didn’t. All these polls showing how various candidates do against Clinton or Sanders in the general are based solely on popular vote predictions, and are thus irrelevant. The issue is, of course, electoral votes, and I can’t see how Cruz picks up a single state above those won by Romney. I’ll support Cruz if he’s nominated, of course, but I actually think Trump has a slightly better chance of victory in a general. We’ll all know more in a couple of months.
I don’t read anti-Trump blogs. I don’t read anti-Cruz blogs either. Have a nice day :)
As much as I hate to say it, a lot will depend on the Republican ticket.
I won't support a Rubio or Bush ticket -- period
I was comfortable with Cruz, but 1) I don't think he'll be on the ticket, and 2) I've grown less comfortable with my support of Cruz as my 2nd choice behind Trump over the past couple of weeks.
There's a lot of variables, but if Trump was in-it-to-win-it as a third party, and the GOPe ticket was Jeb-Rubio, you bet I'd support Trump for a third party ticket.
Everything he has said is correct. Women should be arrested if abortion is illegal. Don’t they arrest kids who buy illegal drugs? Yes. Nuclear bombs must be kept on the table and yes in Europe too. Heck in 20 years Europe is going to be the Middle East. Trump is correct on NATO. It needs a big overhaul with Europe paying more. Trump is correct to support his campaign manager over that ridiculous police report. I see not a thing wrong with trumps positions. The only reason he is getting all this hate is because the want Paul Ryan running for president in November.
We doubted obama’s natural born status because many thought he was born in Kenya. We don’t even have to speculate as to where Mr. Cruz was born, but it’s OK, because his mother was a US citizen (maybe)? Dang, if he had only been born just a few hundred miles farther south, there wouldn’t be any doubts, would there?
Now what’s different with Mr. Cruz? Why is it OK for him to be born on foreign soil, but it was not in obama’s case?
Please don’t get me wrong, I really like Mr. Cruz, but I just can’t convince myself that he qualifies as a natural born citizen of the United States.
Why would Mr. Cruz have the records sealed? Sounds a lot like what obama did, doesn’t it? Same MO.
Mr. Trump isn’t perfect, but by golly, I’m voting for him anyway. It is time that we made America Great Again.
I’ve been a Republican all my adult life. My first Presidential Vote was for Richard Nixon. Voted for Ronald Reagan 3 times. (Yes three, first time when he ran in the primary against Ford, then twice for President of the United States) but if the GOPe takes this away from Mr. Trump, there will no longer be an “R” on my voter registration card, it will be “not affiliated”. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll hold my nose (again) and vote for the Republican candidate. Didn’t like it for Dole, McCain or Romney, but I did it anyway.
Sure we can hope and cajole, harangue, call each other names, etc., and if we keep it up, we will be calling her who cannot be named, “madame president”.
Pretty sure no one here on FR wants that, do we?
