Trump Facing Inconvenient Defeat in Wisconsin
Reaganite Republican ^ | 31 March 2016 | Reaganite Republican

Posted on 03/31/2016 3:52:51 AM PDT by Reaganite Republican

He's already cheesed-off 70% of all cheese-heads

As the latest polling in Wisconsin betrays Trump's widespread unpopularity there, his larger nationwide problem is that women specifically are beginning to coalesce into an anti-Trump alliance...
and that most certainly includes the badger state

It's no secret that female voters were having a hard time getting into the Trump thing, but his recent repellant behavior and attitude re. Heidi Cruz and Michelle Fields is making the choice a lot easier for them. I mean, when you lose rabid supporter Ann Coulter perhaps you've taken your (pointless, completely unnecessary, and damaging to the GOP) war-on-women too far.

Has it occurred to Mr Trump's supporters yet that offending a large majority of American women -when you intend to go-up against Hillary in the fall- is about the stupidest thing he could possibly do?
Trump could have done less damage eating a live kitten on stage.

I for one anxiously await the next round of polling re. hypothetical Trump vs Hillary matchup- he was already weak there before his latest misguided displays of misogyny.

The answer for the GOP? Dump Trump and nominate Ted Cruz -perhaps with staunchly pro-life Carly Fiorina in the VP slot- to take on and destroy Hillary. Polling has long supported the idea that Cruz vs Clinton works better than it would with Trump, and that's not likely to change now.

If Wisconsin goes the way I think it's going to, Trump's sputtering campaign is entirely unlikely to reach 1237 delegates prior to Cleveland. And The Donald mostly trades on an air of inevitability (was never true, but the co-opted 'conservative' media is certainly still pushing that faded narrative), so just watch and see how he does once Ted Cruz exposes Trump's true electoral mediocrity.

With California fully in-play, Ted Cruz reaching 1237 prior to the convention is not out of the realm of possibility for him- but he's a lot more likely to beat Trump on the 2nd or 3rd ballot there.

On the other (tiny) hand, Trump's probably going to arrive in need of delegates, and will in my opinion have a hard time finding new friends-
rather, he's made an awful lot of enemies.

I am a Trump supporter, but I am fairly certain that he will lose in Wisconsin.

What we’re seeing here is every goldarned culprit of the Washington Gravy Train getting together to bash the one person who will drive their train off the rails. They have sold out America and we have only ONE chance to save our beloved country. That one chance is named Donald Trump!

“Wake up.”

It’s no secret why the establishment is supporting Cruz. They’ve admitted it. Cruz knows it. His supporters know it.

Dead to me too. Have no idea how Cruz/GOP expect to win without all the Trump voters.

Cruz will go into the convention with notably less delegates than Trump. If he gets the nomination he gets it because the GOPe cabal puts him in.

Many though that since Paul Ryan was from Wisconsin that they might have a chance, but on election night the Republicans lost by around a seven-point margin. This was able to keep Wisconsin a Democratic state. Wisconsin has now not gone for a Republican since 1984.

That is what I have been wondering.

When has Cruz won an open primary?

If they are only polling Republican voters, I think Trump has a very good shot to win.

Which is why he smoked the field in Arizona, held the same day as Mormon run Utah, right?

Any chance the Mormons know the gig is up on Cruz, and were doing it in hopes of getting Romney?

Trump will likely lose Wisconsin. In a state where the dominant Republican figures are Paul Ryan and Scott Walker, lots of voters will follow the endorsements and vote for the establishment endorsed candidate - Ted Cruz. Will Cruz carry Wisconsin in the general election? Not much of a chance. Congratulations Ted!

Although I will support Cruz if he wins the nomination, I have a question for the more vocal Cruz supporters: What state lost by Romney will Cruz carry in the general? I can’t identify any - perhaps you can provide the remedy for my ignorance. If conservative evangelicals insist on nominating a candidate who has almost no ability to win the general, do you bear any moral responsiblitiy when Hillary turns out to be Obama on steroids?

If he is the nominee, Hillary wins in a landslide.

5 days are a lifetime in a primary. Trump can easily turn this around. I hate to use this as an example, but Obama was losing to Clinton in 2008 and decided to give a speech on race. Well it worked and that turned Oprah and the kennedy’s towards Obama. I think trump needs to make a speech on woman and bring out the women who work for him in his businesses. And during the speech give his policies that are on his website. I think that would turn this primary back to trump.

The numbers don’t lie. They are what they are.

Does Cruz have a mathematical chance? Absolutely.

What’s the likelihood of Cruz getting 774 out of the 943 still available? Perhaps not so good. For me, I’m having a hard time thinking Cruz will get the lion’s share of delegates in CA, NJ and NY - I think Trump gets those.

Now could it be possible that Cruz can close the delegate gap with Trump such that both of them are almost even but less than 1,237? Yes. That’s the GOPe plan, imo.

Then the GOPe stuffs in some kind of a Walker/Ryan/Jeb!/Perry/Haley/Martinez combo and tells the Cruz and Trump supporters to take what we give you or you get a Democrat.

If Cruz, by some miracle, wins the primary, I hope he uses the same dirty politics, energy, and vitriol against Hillary as he does with Trump.
