According to the latest primary results compiled at Green-Papers, it is certain that it will be impossible for Ted to reach the 1237 delegate count or comply with Rule 40 for the nomination. See the link, analyze the stats. and tell me, Why is Ted still in this race?
Yeah. Why is that? Some people who have been here for years make less sense and post utter garbage by comparison.
It is incredible that otherwise intelligent people can’t grasp the idea that as circumstances change, outcomes change.
While those 60% of delegates were being pledged there were 17,14,10,7,6 and 4 candidates in the races. Now there are only three. While the “blow the country up” faction (of which I am partially inclined) has certainly performed well in the crowded field, they will do worse in a 3 way race and would get crushed head to head vs Cruz.
Ted is still in it due to blind ambition and his Dad has been telling him he’s the 7th king all his life.
You’re gonna catch a lot of flack for posting something like this on your first day here, but there’s no arguing with the premise of your post.
Ted’s only hope is that this thing goes to a contested convention, and that he winds up being chosen by the delegates, rather than by the people.
If that happens, he, and the party, will be viewed as illegitimate usurpers of the clear will of the voting public. They’ll destroy the party and hand the general election to the Democrat, if they do that.
So the question remains. Just why is Ted staying in it?
I happen to agree with you. But being new here, and wading into this cage match right now, you’re going to catch a lot of heat.
I see Cruz not having a snowball’s chance in Hell of getting to 1,237. He, himself, set the standard for leaving the race regarding Rubio and Kasich, stating that if there’s no path to victory then someone should leave. I’d love to see him apply that same standard to himself.
Perhaps he will have to wait a few weeks, until AZ is lost and Trump wins big in NY on 4/19, just to preserve his dignity. He’s not stupid, and I don’t believe that he’d allow his own vanity or pride to interfere with his logical reasoning. But the math is utterly compelling that Cruz cannot win on the first ballot...and, so, should leave with the best bargain that he can drive. Perhaps Solicitor General for a couple years, until Roberts can be forced out “to spend more time with his family” and Cruz put in as CJ; plus, Cruz vets all judicial nominees and POTUS Trump chooses from among his recommendations. That’ll reward Cruz nicely, keep his strong Constitutionalist streak working for us, and save the courts from the rot of the Leftist “Living Constitution” freaks.

And that’s Cruz’s last prayer. And will result in complete chaos and very likely an implosion of the GOP with disastrous ramifications for our nation.
Baloney! The GOPe disowned Ted years ago. They can’t stand him. The only reason they’re jumping on board is because the GOPe’s last hope is gone. They have no one left in the race. They’re plan is now to steal the election … period. To do this, they’ll have to ignore the votes from supporters of BOTH Cruz and Trump and nominate their own kind at the convention. But to do that ensures the election for Shrillery. The establishment can’t beat her. Trump or Cruz can and will.
