America has reached a point where political discourse is close-to-impossible. Nowhere are our views as immutable as on the issue of guns. From one perspective, guns are an enormous social harm that must be relegated to trained professionals and law enforcement. In this context, the stigmatization of guns is a wise one. A population that is comfortable around guns is a population that is comfortable using themand sometimes using them on innocent people. Therefore, the number of guns held by the general populace should be driven as low as possible (and, hopefully, eliminated entirely). Australia, Australia, Australia.
The other perspective is the complete opposite. Guns are what keep communities safe, either from criminals or (God forbid!) government overreach. Gun-free zones are invitations for madmen and terrorists to attack a population that is advertising its defenselessness. Guns are what freed this country from the British, have stopped many would-be assailants, and are a constitutionally protected right not up for discussion. Heller, Heller, Heller.

Do I make my case?
We should go back seal to the schools teaching firearms safety and marksmanship. Complete with competitive firearms sports like when we ( or some of us) were young. Then encourage all graduates to to least keep a pistol or whatever for self- defense. And with obama’s tax- payer funded mass invasion of America by enemy Islamonazi young men of fighting and gang-raping age-— we need to include our young girls in these school training programs too.
Forwarding to OddLane. He’s the one who referred to him as a pansy.
I don't approve of the idea but it did make me LOL at the thought of all those dhimmicrat sphincters tightening.
I like his main idea.
I don’t believe in mandating it, but they could make it easier to get a CCW permit for responsible people.
The county north of me, Catron County New Mexico, passed a law or ordinance during the Clinton administration stating that the head of every household, unless prohibited by law (felons), must own a firearm. I don’t believe it was ever enforced, but was more along the lines of making a statement during all the antigun laws heyday of the Clintons.

I disagree: it should be mandatory that all US citizens possess, train with, and be competent with firearms. We are all responsible for the defense of ourselves, our families, our nation.
We have strayed far away from the responsibilities and shared risks of our birthright. For a while, we have had fewer and fewer people serving their country in the uniformed services and today we have fewer members of Congress who are real veterans.
Time for shared duty.
Undesguised Truth.
We can find our way just as fast as some of us have lost it.
It is the Republic that provides the safety we enjoy. If the Republic falls so do we and anarchy rules, all of the Freedom and Liberty enumerated in the founding documents GONE. We the people are all that stands between Liberty and tyranny.
Finally it needs to be mentioned that without the hand of our Creator the Republic would not exist. Our very existence depends on preservation of that which God has placed in our hands. May we preserve the vision our founding fathers had as they gave birth to the Great Experiment.
Except, of course, that the same people who do not want individuals to be armed, are almost always ALSO anti-military and anti-police. . .
I spent some time in Datil on a few occasions. Pretty country.
