I am a Trump supporter but I would like to know if Cruz's comments about Chicago changed the mind of any of his supporters. Is it A) no difference I still support Cruz B) I am rethinking my support for Cruz C) I am now going to support another candidate or not voting?
I was just pointing out that the crowd isn't right against the stage, not attempting to explain the totality of security justification.
I will say, I learned my lesson!
SuzyQue.. be careful.. they throw tomatoes and then stone you if you tell the truth here.. a simple yes or no is all allowed.. /s
Bull. If he takes time out to address altercations, all he'll have is altercations.
I basically agree with all of that. I just truly believe Ted Cruz thinks more like you and me than most politicians and truly does want to downsize government. The idea of shrinking government is a very specific philosophy that does not come naturally, it has to be taught and learned. It’s not a value that Trump has ever suggested that he holds. He’s talked about making some random cuts, but he doesn’t have that driving philosophy of shrinking government that Cruz does and Reagan did. Difference between Cruz and Reagan, Cruz will have a better shot at getting a GOP Congress to go along with him than Reagan did with a Democrat Congress.
Since what Cruz said is manifestly true, his remarks didn't change my support on principle, but it also seemed to me that the emphasis should have been on condemning the Move On thugs, and that Trump would have soon provided another opportunity to call him out on his own actions, and so, I expected to find myself a defacto Trump supporter since he appeared to be on the virge of clinching the nomination, due largely to Ted's unforced error.
But today, Trump's more rabid supporters are giving me pause. One cannot have a rational conversation about the man, or even policy matters. Many Trumpists appear to have transformed themselves into Social Justice Warriors -- people who disagree with even one element of their party line are not just wrong, but evil. Dissent is not to be met with reason, but is to be silenced. You can even see a diluted version of that tendency here on FR.
After all of that, I find myself ever more solidly in the Cruz camp.
Trump was clearly facing elements of the crowd when he did his 360.
Just wondering.
I’ve had a few misgivings from the outset that kept me from supporting him as my first choice, but primarily I thought he was jumping the gun as a first term Senator with this run. I’m finding more that gives me pause as time wears on, but still would vote Cruz if that’s the choice in front of me. He’s not playing this well at all, though.
Exactly the opposite. What Cruz said was total political correctness. He is no different than the rest of the GOP weenies. Cruz as president would be an absolute buffoon. We need a real leader for president. Weenie Cruz doesn't make the cut.
I don’t know if I can vote for him now. I feel like a dummy for holding my nose an voting for Romney. Don’t know if I can do that twice
Great post.
I will still take either Cruz or Trump.
If trump is so bad, why cant Cruz /Kaisch and Rubio unite to do strategic voting—
Florida to Rubio, Ohio to Kaisch and the rest to Ted.
This situation is a mess.
Interesting contrast between Trump and Cruz that you've pointed out.
Trump and Cruz IMO are both bad on illegal immigration and cheap labor. They’re also the best we have.
And I do at least trust that Trump would stop the inflow of new illegals.
You are a moonbat.
True. Cruz should be VP for eight years and learn emotional intelligence- from Trump.
Trump has slashed everyone, so this is not a likely scenario now.
Well, when the choices are sit it out, go third party or vote for the Democrat, what are you going to do? If there was a credible third party campaign being mounted at the time, I might have gone that route but there wasn’t.
Are you voting for Cruz?
A report from inside the rally last night:
Before 6:00 p.m., a man spoke on the microphone and requested that rally attendees do not touch or harm protesters who interrupt the event. He reminded the protesters that Donald Trump supports the first amendment as much as the second.
Perot gave us 26 years of clinton.
Cant do third party. Emotions are high now, but history speaks stronger.
After all the crap, who cares about the label of conservative. Cruz sides with mob rule and you think he is conservative. You must be from Fantasyland.
