The other day I wrote a rant fueled by my concerns for the future well being of my children, grandchildren, and fellow countrymen.
I keep receiving requests to keep posting it, or requests to use it elsewhere, and so forth. I truly appreciate the flattery, although find it a bit embarrassing. So to save time and to spare me making individual replies, here is the rant, and my expressed permission to those interested for use anywhere you see fit.
In humility,

Bombs away!
We, in recent years have been saved by one vote from losing several parts of our Bill of Rights. ONE VOTE! Sadly, that vote died a few weeks ago.
Now we know that Trump makes deals. It's what he does and he brags about this skill at every campaign stop. So when he gives us another Sotomayor, he will just give us a shrug and tell us that's what he needed to give in order to get a Dem vote for the wall. Great deal, right? He will think so, the Dems will think so, and we will be stuck, once again.
So take a deep breath, and think some more.
But what did they “win”.
On a related note, I just saw Our Brand is Crisis. The poorly hidden message really is fascinating. And I believe true.
Specify, please. Worse than now?
But look at the field we are given to choose from.
Your observation that Trump will install a communist as a justice is speculation, we could all come up with negative scenarios for each and every candidate.
What we do know is that we have seen what career politicians bring to the table...a rancid dish of liberty robbing gruel. Anyone but another politician. I think that any professional, career politician, is consistent in that they serve their financial donors. That is where the frustration and anger of the voter emanates. It is not because that the average American voter thinks he/she is being ignored, it's because the average American voter knows he/she is being ignored.
Time to roll the dice.
What did Trump "do" to her? From Wikipedia:
Donald Trump, who owns most of the Miss Universe Organization, defended Prejean's answer, saying that "Miss California has done a wonderful job" and that "It wasn't a bad answer. That was simply her belief." He then added that the question was "a bit unlucky" and that no matter which way she answered the question "she was going to get killed".
Why did Trump hire Perez Hilton to judge a beauty pageant anyway?
This incident was a turning point on the path to gay marriage.

We ought to tighten that war up then.
Anyone but another politician.

We have term limits on the President. Life long limits on the SCOTUS and life long on the
Senators/Reprsentatives as long as they can keep getting elected. And generally that isn’t
hard once they win their first election.
At this stage I’m coming the point of wanting term limits on the entire lot. Maybe two
terms (12 yrs) on Senators, six terms (12 yrs) on Representatives and maintain the
two terms on the President.
Good catch!
Here's an idea... If you hold office of any type, and your personal wealth grows more than the inflation rate, then you immediately go to prison.
You would then have persons representing the people.
I know it can't be done, but we can dream.
The Usurper won...twice. That is why we need our own 'monster'. Far from perfect, at least he can defeat the alternative.
Will he be any better?
We can only hope.
We can only hope.
Yep. Hope and Change.
I was listening to Michael Medved tonight. I used to like him but strongly disagree with his position on winning the election. But it dawned on me where I part company with Trump supporters, if I must pick one issue. And it is this:
Trump supporters are all about the border.
I’m all about Obamacare. The border is way down on my list. For starters, it’s because most of the illegal aliens do not come from south of the border.
And Trump is not remotely your man if you want Obamacare eliminated, unless you want him sitting on it while he works toward single payer. You see, Obamacare was the first thing the government did that caused me to draw my “red line”. It made them the equivalent of how I was taught, in US public schools in the 1960’s, to see the USSR.
As long as we have obamacare, this country is a tyranny.
Period.
All solutions to all problems begin with a single first step: its elimination.
If Trump is the nominee, I will write in a candidate. Is Pat Paulson still alive?
We can only hope.
I’m watching this election mainly for comic relief. It’s a dog and pony show. I’ve seen enough of them to know how it ends. And to be clear, the problem is not the candidates. The problem is, as it was in 2008, the electorate.
You don’t live in CA. where the state has been taken over with south of the border illegals!!! I am also very unhappy with the ACA act but we all have our #1 issues and mine is immigration!!!
you are very wrong about Trump on the ACA act!! I think you need to further read up on Trumps views on this!!!!
I used to visit California when I lived in Seattle. I started calling it northern mexico in the early 90’s. I stopped going there in 2004. Because we were an Alaska Airlines family we could fly for free. My wife and I would catch an early flight on Saturday to Burbank, rent a convertible for the day, do fun stuff, and head back to Seattle on a late flight. After a while I got to the point where, when I think of orange county I think “pavement and graffiti”.
And ludicrous taxes.
I now live on 32 beautiful acres in central KY with a nice home, barn, two streams, etc. And the annual property taxes are less than a single car payment on a new Chevy.
BTW, I spent a few years in Vallejo in the 60’s and some of my family is still in Napa. Talk about “A tale of two cities”. :-D
