Should find out today if the California Secretary of State is going to place my name on the presidential primary ballot of the American Independent Party which will be conducted on June 7th.
We'll also find out if they also placed Donald Trump's name there as well. He'll likely be on the Republican ballot line in their closed primary, but the AIP offered his name up as well for their non-binding open primary, in which Independents will be able to vote.
California law allows candidates to appear on multiple party ballot lines. Once again, though, the actual nominee of the AIP will be chosen at their July state convention. So the June 7 primary is really nothing more than a beauty contest. Could be interesting, nonetheless.
Is this being done to confuse voters? Can Trump stop this... whazzup?
Good Luck, EV!

No. Trump agreed to it. This gives him the opportunity to point to all of the Independent votes he got in addition to the Republican votes he received in their closed primary. They won’t count in his actual totals in the GOP primary race, but he would have nonetheless been a fool not to do it.
Thanks!
The Green Party, for example, should be supporting Bernie.
I believe the Conservative Party of New York will often support the Republican candidate if he is sufficiently conservative rather than putting up their own candidate.
If you keep supporting the lesser of two evils, don’t complain any more about how quickly the country is going to hell in a handbasket. When and how does the compromise stop, anyhow?
By the way, I’m pretty certain that the Conservative Party of New York will not support Senator Ted Cruz if he’s the GOP nominee.
That way they might have a chance to have a seat at the table if voters from their party help swing a state in the direction of that candidate.
If the GOP nominates Cruz or Trump, then I think those would be acceptable candidates to the Constitution Party or American Independent Party or whatever they are calling themselves this year.
I voted for that lawyer guy one year instead of Bush, and I'm glad the Constitution Party didn't support Bush, but I could have seen them supporting Santorum in opposition to Romney.
I seriously doubt that the Constitution Party would ever support Trump or Cruz.
I doubt it either. Because they would rather remain pure and languish in obscurity.
Yeah. Too much purity is really destroying this country, ain’t it?

Yes Cruz is an H1b supporter and Trump is bad on the social issues, but unless they are moles for the GOPe they should be good on immigration, business regulation, national sovereignty, and a few other things close to the hearts of rightwing nutjobs such as myself.
This is like when Protestant sects split into ever smaller and smaller sects over theological minutiae.
I lost respect for Alan Keyes because of the split. It seems as if it's more about personalities than winning elections or even getting enough votes to get a write-up in a newspaper.
What issue was so important that the Constitution Party and America's Party couldn't agree to disagree on it?
Foreign policy and national defense.
Petty substantial stuff.
