How is Trump.2016 any more conservative than Romney.2012? [vanity]

In 2012, Mitt Romney ran on a solidly conservative platform and rhetoric, just as Trump is doing now. Yet most (IMO) FReepers agreed with Jim Robinson in vigorously opposing Romney during the primaries and supporting him, if at all, only with nose firmly held in the general election. Why? Because Romney had a record, and it was on far too many matters a liberal record. Well, Trump's many liberal public statements are at least as fresh as Romney's were ... and in some cases are ongoing (cf. "Donald Trump a Typical New York City Liberal Then and Now" - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3385906/posts).
How is Trump.2016 any more conservative than Romney.2012?
(NOTE: Replies about Cruz, Reagan, or anyone other than Trump and/or Romney will be implicit admissions that Trump.2016 is no more conservative than was Romney.2012.)

The difference between Donald Trump and Milt Romley is that Milt Romley is far too much of a gentleman to have strongly held principles that he is willing to fight for.Nonresponsive in the absence of evidence that Trump has strongly held principles that he is willing to fight for.

I'm for Trump and I'll admit he's not more conservative than Romney. Thanks for the straightforward reply.

Other than defeating conservatives, what strongly held principles does Milt Romley have?

Trump hasn't been part of the eGOP "scene" in DC and those that have spent their entire lives climbing the social ladder in the eGOP are scared they won't retain their positions if Trump wins. Period. THAT is why they oppose Trump.

Yeah, it’s not a matter of how conservative the 2016 candidate is.
It’s a matter of will the candidate fight and stop the left from destroying the country.

Where did I say he did? Is your answer to the title question, "Romney.2013 was no better than Trump.2016"?

Yeah, it's not a matter of how conservative the 2016 candidate is.So is your answer to that question, "Trump.2016 is no more conservative than was Romney.2012"?
It's a matter of will the candidate fight and stop the left from destroying the country.
Why would a nonconservative fight the left?

If the only thing Trump does is build the wall and stop the illegal alien inundation, that will be enough for me.
Once The Great Wall of Trump is built, the following issues will begin to be resolved:
Jobs
Better wages for us.
Medicaid
Emergency Services
Crime
Anchor babies
Social Security
Overcrowded schools
Less traffic congestion
Fewer auto accidents
Reduced drug running
More room in our jails and prisons
Fewer new diseases.
No more need of “Press 1 for English”

Trump is solidly against illegal immigration and excessive legal immigration, an issue that represents an existential threat the the United States. Moreover, Trump is a fighter and has a record of accomplishing large projects, traits that distinguish him from many conservatives in Washington.

Trump is solidly against illegal immigration As was Romney.2012.
and excessive legal immigration,
Granted, I don't recall Romney.2012 taking a position on that. I do recall this: 'Romney's solution of "self deportation" for illegal aliens made no sense and suggested that Republicans do not care about Hispanics in general, Trump says [in an interview with Newsmax]. "He had a crazy policy of self deportation which was maniacal," Trump says.' - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3310076/posts
Trump is a fighter and has a record of accomplishing large projects
Which doesn't necessarily make him a conservative, much less more conservative than Romney.2012.
