A Reuters’ survey with a very low 2% m. o. e. says Donald Trump is schlonging Ted Cruz among new, very motivated voters.

It is undeniable that Donald Trump is running a very unconventional campaign. He has turned the old rules on their ear and found continuing success along the way.

Nevertheless, one of the rules of campaigning that Trump is following, without much fanfare, is the one that says the surest way to win is to expand the existing voter universe and swamp it with your new voters; thereby guaranteeing they will vote for you.

The newly released, very extensive Reuters/Ipsos survey conducted between June 1 and December 31, 2015 found that people described as “new voters” because they have either not voted in the last four general elections or never voted before, are backing Trump over Ted Cruz by an astounding 27% to just 3.4% which actually puts him behind Marco Rubio’s 4%.

Bringing in new voters is always the aim of all well run campaigns so there is no reason to think the Cruz and Rubio campaigns have not been trying to sign up new people; but very clearly neither is having much success at it.

Because of the edge Trump has...

Trump admitted that his attacks were because Cruz was gaining on him...

We had all hoped that if Trump was to win, he would pick Cruz.......I think he attacked Cruz specifically to distance himself from him and not have to choose Cruz for VP....

Trump just can't have someone around him that is SMARTER than he his. He will never choose Cruz now. Carly perhaps?

I would like to see Trump Cruz or Cruz Trump or Sessions as VP. There is an extreme amount of anger on FR. But it seems to be equally pointed at Trump and Cruz. I wish we would all take a deep breath and remember who the enemy really is.

“Conservatism’’ has done so much in the last thirty years. Like...Oh that’s right, they accomplished Nothing. Hell, even defunding NPR was too difficult.

As some of us have commented before, the coming RE-ACTION to the ongoing muslim INVASION of the West could easily push the events in Nazi Germany into the back pages of future history books. Bill Whittle explains WHY TRUMP is EN FUEGO and all of that in this excellent and riveting 9 minute video.
When it starts in the U.S., it will make those activities look like – to borrow a phase – JV squad stuff!

I would like to see Trump Cruz or Cruz Trump

The truth of the matter is, Ted Cruz would make a great VP, President of the Senate.

On the other hand, Donald Trump, would never play second-fiddle.

“Trump admitted that his attacks were because Cruz was gaining on him...” Well lets see the Trump camp let the stupid report that he only had 12 people show up at a meeting go unchallenged when the real number was 120.
Now Trump sheepishly says he attacked Cruz because “he is doing better” and Cruz plans the next 5 days of his campaigning for New Hampshire.
Do you think maybe Trump is “Please don’t throw in in the brier patching?”

I think the remark about Trump/Rubio was made in jest. Anyway, that is how I read it. Hard to imagine Trump selecting Rubio as a running mate, with his dubious eligibility issues and his position on amnesty/illegal immigration, at least at this point.

Will you Cruz bots please stop pretending speaking for all conservatives, and just speak for yourselves? None of us are blind to Trump’s warts, but we are also not blind to his strengths and the potential great good he can do which no other candidate can — of which, alas, you are quite blind!

Cruz should be careful what he says and does. He would make an excellent small, limited and govt. by the Constitution Supreme Court Justice. Not as President.

Pro abortion, pro gun control, pro tax increases, pro more govt spending, pro amnesty, pro eminent domain, pro crony capitalism, pro liberal judges, pro Hillary, pro DNC, etc etc.

Other than that, how did you enjoy the play Mrs Lincoln??

Just listened to latest Cruz ad exposing Trump for endorsing de Blasio and saying he is going to make NY great.

Can’t make this stuff up.

Isn’t it awesome when they finally mobilize low information voters?!

I understand that when they vote that their vote counts the same as all the others. Is that true?

If you want to be heard you need to stick with the truth.

Trump has said he has changed and is now pro life.

Trump has the strongest plan on the second amendment while Cruz supported stronger back ground checks.

Trump’s tax plan lowers the taxes all people will pay except hedge fund managers. Cruz has a vat tax in his plan.

Trump has said repeatedly that he will curb and cut government spending. It is ludicrous to think that a successful businessman would not cut spending. FYI... Cruz does not list TSA as a program he would do away with. Hint... One of his campaign managers profits from it.

Trumps’ views on Kelo would have no effect in the office of president. The only eminent domain would be for things like roads and bridges.

There is no reason to think that Trump will select pro life judges. The only judges he has said he admires are Thomas, Alito, and his sister. He would not select his sister and even if he did she would not accept or be confirmed.

As it has been explained many, many times here, Trump’s former roll as a businessman made it a requirement to play the game as politicians set it up and pay for play. he didn’t set it up that way your elected officials did.

I suggest you use your obvious research skills to do a little research on your own candidate.

I agree, especially in IOWA, but after that the polls are what they are and it is certainly no margin of error, it is smoking the field, by TRUMP, enough that it can tighten all day long and still not be enough to best him.
