The lyrics to his apocalyptic “Cygnet Committee” are more timely than ever, perhaps in ways he wasn’t thinking at the when he wrote them.

I saw the Spiders from Mars tour at the Orlando Jai Alai fronton in Fern Park - 1973, I’m thinking. Great venue in those days.
Diamond Dogs was the last LP I liked.

One of my all time favorites. He was eccentric but his late 70’s and 80’s hits are on the top of my playlist. Very sad day.

I thought I saw you
In an ice cream parlor
Drinking milkshakes cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
I don’t think you knew you were in this song

We talk about the lyrics and the music, however the man had a beautiful voice. His drummer boy with Bing Crosby is amazing.

With his life style I alway thought he’d catch “the Bug” and it would take him out, not cancer.
Talented artist. RIP Ziggy

Well I appreciate the thread. We are a community here on Free Republic and it doesn't have to be politics 100% of the time.
There are a lot of other non-political threads here that don't interest me and I just stay off of them.

Isn’t there some MTV groupy forum you can all cry on. This forum is about politics.

Pop culture drives politics as much as anything else. I think discussing pop culture when it comes to the passing of culture icons is a relevant matter.
