Ted Cruz will have to answer for own Rev. Wright and dodging the question won’t cut it
Coach is Right ^ | 01/07/16 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

Ted Cruz has associated himself with a man who says the Catholic Church supports pedophilia; and Christians should execute homosexuals. If Cruz becomes the Republican nominee this would destroy any chance he might have of defeating Hillary Clinton. If this doesn’t stir his supporters to think twice, it ought to.

On Friday, November 6, 2015 Cruz attended a campaign rally in Des Moines, Iowa, hosted by a Colorado pastor who frequently calls for putting gay people to death. The Pastor, Kevin Swanson, is well known for calling for Christians to execute homosexuals just the same as the Islamists do and Hitler’s Nazi Germany did. Pastor Swanson has accused the Catholic Church of wanting to “legitimize” child molestation saying, “The Catholic Church will never be able to legitimize pederasty.”

This is Rev. Jeremiah Wright type hate.

When asked how he could attend a rally coordinated by Pastor Swanson, Cruz told ABC News: “Listen, I don’t know what this gentleman has said or hasn’t said. I know that when it comes to religious liberty, this is a passion of mine and has been for decades and that I have been fighting for religious liberty for everyone.” Thinking this would be the end of this matter is delusional.

Cruz knew exactly who Pastor Swanson is and what he is all about, but denied any knowledge of the man’s past statements. For a man who is as careful with his words as Cruz, this is very hard to believe. For a Republican presidential candidate this would be a major problem.

Swanson has been calling for the execution of gays...

I never heard of this man but has Ted Cruz sat in a pew in his church for the last 20 years? If not the comparison is invalid.

Your coach articles are usually crap. Today is a real banner day for you.

This is crap on toast.

Since your only purpose here at FR is to pimp your blog; I don’t expect a reply, but seriously - you suck.

Kevin Swanson has been calling for the use of Biblical law, (a position known as theonomy), which includes treating homosexuality as a capital crime. If you don’t like it, take it up with Moses and God. Maybe coach thinks God should call for a mulligan for Sodom and Gomorrah! To equate a legitimate historically held theological position with J. Wright is disingenuous. To defame Kevin Swanson as “Hitleresque” is plain unhinged.

Yes, I have also noticed that “Coach” seems to have gotten the bash Cruz fever. There were a couple editorials he wrote this summer, not related to Cruz, when I thought that someone has gotten to “Coach” and is controlling his mind. He is losing his conservative credentials in my mind.

The Bible warns of deception in the last days, OVER & OVER again! I see that it is not only spiritual things, but political, as well. Time to consecrate ourselves to God and for His wisdom.

Back in 1980, the Dems tried this guilt-by-association ploy against Ronald Reagan, trying to link him to a pastor who said that God does not listen to the prayers of Jews, but it didn't work.

Nice try, Coach Oldpuppymax.

Did Cruz spend twenty years as a member of his church attending regular weekly services?

Thought not.

So this is akin to sitting 20 years under a man you look to and affirm as a father figure? Coach has committed a foul.

Attended a rally organized by a man is compared to attending a church under the teaching of a man? The coach is dishonest.

I used to listen to Swanson’s “Generations Radio” show all the time and never heard him say any of this. He was always big on home schooling and pushed it big in Colorado.

Trump owns casinos with strip clubs and lab dancers. He has filed bankruptcy 4 times. He tried to swipe someone’s property through eminent domain. He is to self righteous to think he ever needed to ask anyone, including God, for forgiveness. He has no moral authority whatsoever.

It is ironic that if you just changed a few names, that diatribe sounded just like Kevin Swanson.

Although I have never met him, I share several mutual friends with Kevin Swanson. Even among his friends, Swanson is seen as a loose cannon who often goes off on nutty tangents. However, he is a popular speaker in home-schooling circles. Swanson is not that well-known outside that community, so I doubt that Cruz knows much about his views.

If I were advising Ted Cruz, I would advise him to go to these events but keep Kevin Swanson at arm's-length. Kevin Swanson is astute enough to know that he can be political poison and to help his candidate of choice, he needs to keep a low profile.

Why should Cruz answer for this? The precedent has already been set with Wright and the other doofus.

Coachiswrong is competing with Sundance for the 1st Annual Free Republic I Hate Cruz Contest. After this post he passe Sundance to move into first place.

Coach is more not-right than Sundance. But not by much. And it isn't saying much.
