In the Bugs Bunny cartoon that shows Elmer Fud shooting at the wabbit with a barrel stuff full of carrots. Ever wonder what actually happens to the shotgun barrel or the wabbit, if it was real. Anyone try this for real?
The setup: shotgun, carrot, string and a turkey to simulate the wabbit.
Depending on which loads you use for the shotgun, in this take they were using No. 4 Shot high brass (big bb's).
Here's what happens to the barrel.
Yeh, you would need to replace the barrel. And here's what happens to the turkey (wabbit)

Mythbusters did an episode that covered this. They used chicken bones and ballistics gel to create a hand. They placed one finger in the shotgun barrel and fired.
The hand was destroyed, naturally. But the barrel did balloon a bit, thus ruining it. Not to the extent that this carrot seems to have done.

I know this is supposed to be funny, but really, what an idiot thing to do. This is the kind of dumb stuff anti gunners point to when they say the average American has no need for firearms. Also, he may need that shotgun someday.
