In a January 5th 1996 teletype to select FBI field offices, FBI Director Louis Freeh revealed that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), the far-left group founded by civil rights lawyer Morris Dees, had an informant living in Elohim City, a white supremacist compound whose inhabitants have been closely linked to the Oklahoma City bombing.
The Freeh teletype also revealed that Tim McVeigh, executed in 2001 for the murder of 168 people in Oklahoma City, had telephoned Elohim City asking that German national Andreas Strassmeir provide more assistance in completing the bomb which devastated the Alfred P. Murrah building. The call took place on April 17 of 1995, 2 days before the bombing.
The teletype makes it clear that the FBI had prior knowledge of the bombing plot and the SPLC had at least one informant on the inside. This individual has never been publicly identified. Neither is it known whether he reported to the FBI, to SPLC founder Morris Dees or to both.
In a 2010 interview, Jesse Trentadue-the Salt Lake City attorney responsible for revealing much of what we know today of the Oklahoma City bombing-spoke to a radio audience about the FBI, the SPLC and their advance knowledge of the event. Said Trentadue, âI mean, they clearly knew, clearly knew in advance it was going to happen. Now this is something you struggle with and I struggle with, did it go south on them, was the plan to catch the people in the act, or did they really want it to happen.â
These represent the most important questions surrounding the Oklahoma City bombing: Did the Clinton Administration FBI make...

Also, IIRC, thousands of investigative records went missing.
It also has been said that the ATF in that building all called in sick that day.......
John Doe #2?
I am still looking for those “Six swarthy complected men of middle eastern extraction, dressed in blue running suits, fleeing the scene.”
So reported ABC news that morning.
Exactly right - the “Gorelick Wall”.
Confession of the Oklahoma City Bomber: John Doe 2 Exists
Islamic finance and training of the bombers.
Bkmrk.
Good old Jamie Goerlic. For those don’t remember. ..look her up. She built that wall between cia and fbi right? No sharing. .
she ha fingers in many pies of corruption including bubba Clinton and don’t think piaps wasn’t involved.
Sooo much corruption. How can this great country even be considering her as a viable candidate? Goerlic and piaps deserve indictments.
Sigh
I don't know if that's true but the fact is that while the ATF had an office in the building there were no ATF agents among the victims.
Didn’t he also show up as a maintenance person in an airport connected to plane crash ?
I am not saying what is described in the article isn’t true. But something very odd jumped out at me. The article describes communications as “teletypes” more than once.
I was in communications from 1968 to 1976 and we used “teletypes” all the time. Even at the end of my commitment, that term gave way to other more updated modes. And in 1996, 20 years later, I find the term very curiously out of place.
I worked at a local AM - FM radio station in 1981 and they still used a teletype for their AP news wire.
Don't know.
Do know a proven money trail to Nichols through Philippine immigrant bagmen, and Nichols training visit to Abu Sayyaf in Philippines.
Book mark
The artist “sketch” used to apprehend McVeigh was a bit too dead on. Also he was executed very soon after his conviction and never revealed all who knew about the plot and who was really behind it. Always had a suspicion that it was a “fast and furious” type of operation.
Move Along! Nothing to see here~!
I joined the fed-gov in 1985 and we still used teletypes for secure coms. I think we transitioned away from them around 1988 or 89 and went to secure fax machines.

In the late 80s and very early 90s I remember communicating with a sponsor (government) over the remnants of what was ARPANET. After that, electronic comms exploded and teletypes were relics (except for the State Department, I guess).
