My Town is in a fight over Nativity Scene
Vanity | 11-10-2015 | Me

Posted on 11/10/2015 11:24:14 AM PST by Thorliveshere

My town is going to have a council vote on removing a nativity scene from the central town park. It is only ONE GUY causing all this trouble, and virtually the whole town is against him. He's a trouble-making POS.

I've been trying to get to each and every council member, none are giving me any clear answers. The mayor (who is usually a very staunch conservative) is also being cagey. Just wondering what others have experienced... have the rest of you had this in your town, how did your town council vote?

It will be in our lifetime that Christmas is expelled from our culture, thanks to political correctness.

I'd find out where he lived and go spread some Christmas cheer.

There's nothing like trolling a hater over the holidays.

No Christmas, then city workers get no holiday for Dec. 25; schools must be open and teachers teach; and no overtime for working that day.

See if they like it.

Will happen everywhere. The left is in full attack mode, to prepare the way for the shift to atheistic collectivist materialism.

“My town is going to have a council vote on removing a nativity scene from the central town park. It is only ONE GUY causing all this trouble, and virtually the whole town is against him. He’s a trouble-making POS.”

“RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)”

That’s how you beat him. Play his game.

I like that strategy. Suggest that, if they get rid of Christmas, it is all or nothing. Expect full town services that day, town offices to be open, and so on.

Look up Athens, TX. The solution? Get several thousand people to show up with speakers to denounce any attempts to remove the nativity scene. FFRF loves to stir up trouble and they always use that “one guy” to start it.

Just say that to save money for the town’s budget the holiday display will be provided for a sponsorship by a business that can put up whatever decorations they want. Then pick a good conservative business to “sponsor” the display.

My little town takes out the little baby as soon as anyone starts to complain, only to put it back in the following year.

No one can really tell if it is there or not from the road. You have to get out and look to see if it is there.

And, they often stress that it is a seasonal item, not related to any particular holiday.

From the Liberty Counsel's web site:

A PUBLICLY SPONSORED NATIVITY SCENE ON PUBLIC PROPERTY IS CONSTITUTIONAL IF THE DISPLAY ALSO CONTAINS A SECULAR SYMBOL OF THE HOLIDAY

In other words, the government may publicly display Mary, Joseph and Jesus so long as part of the display includes a secular symbol such as Santa Claus.

PRIVATELY SPONSORED NATIVITY SCENES THAT ARE ERECTED BY PRIVATE CITIZENS OR GROUPS IN A PUBLIC AREA ARE CONSTITUTIONAL WITHOUT SECULAR SYMBOLS

“We are resolved to stop ‘grinches’ from stealing Christmas. This Nation was founded by people who sought to freely exercise their religious liberty. We have no intention of letting these liberties be chilled every Christmas season by uninformed or hostile government officials.” - Mathew Staver, Esq. Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel.

Get a bunch of Christians to show up at the meeting. Ask for a show of hands of how many in the audience would vote against the council members next election if they took down the Nativity scene. Seeing a sea of hands in the air makes more of an impression than you giving a speech.

We had some guy complain about our nativity scene one year. He didn’t get it removed. And this is Massachusetts.

Go to the board meeting, and advise the board members and the supervisor that YOU will run against them in the next election. Remind them that they work for YOU and the ENTIRE COMMUNITY and that they are not monarchs, and if they choose to vore out the nativity scene, the coming election will be a bruising battle for them.

This works very effectively. The last thing they want is a vicious battle for their seats. But be resolute. Gather others who will threaten the same action of running against them and unseating them in a vicious campaign if they knuckle under to this clown. Don't let them pass it off to the town lawyer. They don't work for him, he works for them. If the POS guy says he's going to sue....let him.

Have the town teenagers make his home a target for all sorts of mischief. Toilet paper, general trash, my favorite is Ortho Groundclear

on the lawn spelling out obscenities. It will be a week to 10 days before it appears, but it will be there for a year.

Well then, get the whole town together and show up at the council meeting .. just before they vote.

Let them know .. anybody who votes to take down Christmas decorations of any kind .. will NOT HAVE A JOB NEXT ELECTION.

Have somebody there with pad and paper taking down the names .. and then keep your promise.

Worked in SoCal.
