The change in rhetoric (and apparent shift in strategy) comes just days after the US seemingly prepared the public for what might be coming by releasing helmet cam footage of what Washington says was a raid on an ISIS prison by Delta Force (accompanied by the Peshmerga). 70 prisoners were allegedly freed although not before the US suffered its first combat death in Iraq since 2011.
The timing of the video is suspect, to say the least. It came just days after Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joe Dunford visited Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi in an effort to dissuade Baghdad from requesting Russian airstrikes on ISIS targets.
In short, it appears as though Washington is trying to simultaneously prove to Mid-East governments that the US can still be effective in the fight against terrorism even as questions remain about ulterior motives and even as Russia racks up gains in Syria, prepare the public for the possibility that America is about to put boots on the ground in Iraq and Syria. Hereâs more from WSJ on Washingtonâs new âstrategyâ:
The White House is seriously considering deploying a small squadron of Apache attack helicopters to Iraq as part of a package of new assistance programs to counter Islamic State, according to U.S. officials.
The move could ultimately require the deployment of hundreds more U.S. service members to Iraq. Among other proposals, U.S. officials said some in the military recommend openly deploying a small number of forces on the ground in Syria, embedded among moderate rebels or Kurdish forces there, for the first time.

I posted the link to the video about 3 days ago
I can't find anyone to agree with me on that ...but that's OK ...

An interesting note from this morning:
“Russia looking for moderate Syrian opposition, has not found it so far” - Peskov
Interfax
I have an acquaintance who claims to be “really good in an emergency”. In the several we’ve been in, “good” has proven to be “major liability” and is likely to get physically manhandled in some form of “shut up and get out of the way”.
I see the same here: the Obama’s involvement will be little more than an annoying hindrance, slapped down _hard_ when getting in the way of the adults handling the situation - to wit: Putin will have no qualms about shooting US Apaches out of the sky if they interfere with Russia’s onslaught against ISIS et al.
so now we’re going to fight to protect Isis basically. Great.
Not enough patriots coming home in flag draped coffins. China threatened us today, too.
China: Will respond to US ships with all necessary means

Using the US military as mercenaries to kill White Christians and impose the World Caliphate was always part of the Obama Rat plan to destroy America.
this time I will show up at a mass protest. Come on man American soldiers fighting for what? That Muslim ####. Ley turkey fight. they have 100,000,000 to build a mosque in America then they have money to go to war
Appreciated.
Pity it’s rather anticlimactic (2/3rds watching people walk thru a door, 1/3rd soldiers in an empty room).
a lot poppin' goin' on, though.
