I recently argued in The Federalist that same-sex marriage is merely a vehicle to abolish all civil marriage, and with it, all family autonomy. I predicted that singles activists would try to finish the job by using those same marriage equality arguments to claim that all civil discriminates against singles and therefore should be abolished. Lo and behold, a singles activist, [] Bella DePaulo, confirmed exactly that []: Morabito says that what I really want is to abolish marriage without saying so. Thats not quite right. Im happy to say so.
As for me connecting singles rights with the same-sex marriage movement, DePaulo had this to say []:
The author picks up on an argument I have been making for some time that single people are targets of institutionalized, legalized discrimination in the form of the 1,000+ federal laws that protect and benefit only those who are legally married. She also accurately notes that my argument, and that of many other like-minded critics, has roots in the same-sex marriage movement.Central planners have always understood that when you legally isolate people, you can better control them. Take away the sanctuaries of marriage and family, and you take away everybodys privacy and autonomy.
Too many Americans seem hypnotized by the slogan that abolishing civil marriage will get the state out of the marriage business. [] Have you ever heard anyone who makes this claim explain exactly how it gets the state out? I havent, and Ive concluded thats because it does no such thing. Rather, by abolishing marriage, you simply give the state permission to refuse to recognize your marriage, and its attendant rights and responsibilities. This refusal inevitably extends to the rest of family relationships, including parent-child.

Actually, the homosexual supremacists were saying the same thing.
Bump.
God established marriage. Marriage will not be abolished.
Western “civilization” will crumble as it abandons God.
“Take away the sanctuaries of marriage and family, and you take away everybodys privacy and autonomy.”
Too late. They already took away the sanctity of marriage, as recognized by government. I no longer care if the federal, state, or local government recognizes “marriage” because too much of what they recognize under that name has no connection to real marriages. I only care what my church recognizes, and I will leave my church if it performs even one fake “marriage”.
Being a single person what I really hate is that married couples vote to raise my property tax to pay for their children’s public school. They should pay to put their own kids through school and stay out of my pocket.
It is the abolition of all points of loyalty between the citizen and the State. The citizen must be loyal only to the State and look to the State for all things, material, spiritual, and emotional.

If everyone actually cared about the welfare and future of their children there would be no public schools. Public school is just as much a threat to Family as queer “marriage” is.
I agree with you to an extent. But also consider that by supporting the schooling of kids that are not yours, you are nonetheless helping to insure that you will benefit from the professional services, such as police and healthcare, that the kids will eventually be providing for you, especially as you get older.
Dead on correct.

Yep all that’s happening is the west choosing a method of suicide.
Don’t care what so ever what the left or 5 robed tyrants call marriage as I know what the real definition of marriage is. If any left wing loon or homosexual tells me they are married I do correct them and stand for my beliefs.
They don’t like it and get all their panties in a twist then I ask them who is not being tolerant now. It always shuts their argument down.
I am also single, no kids, but I make a point of what do the schools have to show for the dollars they are getting. I have another motive. I am retiring from engineering in a few years, and may go into teaching at one of the technical junior colleges here in Houston. Are the students heading my way filled with this dis functional common core “math”? I aced differential equations and I see pretzel logic.
Please pardon the formatting on this. My “smartphone” is so much smarter.
Remember back in the mid 1960s when the Hippies were ranting against marriage?
I sure do! Sex Drugs Rock and Roll! If you loved someone that was all that mattered, after all the marriage license was ONLY a piece of paper!
Now those old hippies and their children are finding marriage is one of the most important things two people can engage in, BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE GAY!
I Timothy 4:3
Excellent point.
“abolish all civil marriage”
A so called civil marriage is not holy matrimony. Nothing to worry about here.
Well I should not be paying the full amount at least but I do.
