Speculation continued late Thursday night that Congresswoman Renee Ellmers and Congressman Kevin McCarthy would resign Friday morning, GotNews.com has learned.
The possibility of a double resignation was discussed at the Media Research Center (MRC) dinner by Daily Caller editor-in-chief Tucker Carlson.
Several prominent lobbyists and staffers have confirmed that the rumors are flying all over Capitol Hill.

Who the HELL ISN’T pro-family???? She was NASTY RUDE to Laura Ingraham one time.
No, you don’t.
Charles Johnson standing tall.
Have’nt heard that in years.
yes power does corrupt.
but you know what’s weird? a congressman really doesn’t have any power.
sure McCarthy had a bit as he was high in leadership.
but until you have a gavel, you don’t have squat.
so...the situation is even more grim than that. it is something like, “the percs of holding office corrupts absolutely” or something.
sad really.
Is having an affair a disqualified for office now?
Donald Trump has had affairs...just saying’.
What does McCarthy and Renee have to do with Trump?
just sayin’
Resign from the House? What would the procedure be for filling their seats?
I hope so. Get all the corrupt bums out.
Hunter, yes!
Per the Constitution, vacant House seats require a special election, which takes a few months or longer. If close to the next regular election, sometimes the seat remains vacant.
hey rino’s join the dem/libtard party
deviant, immoral, illegal behavior MAKES YOU A HERO....
maybe even a LION OF THE SENATE SOME DAY..
OR THE head of a foundation named after yourself...
plus get paid to appear and talk... pay no taxes, travel for free, visit orgy islands, rape women, molest women... CARTE BALNCHE.... live it up big time
The speakership gears for McCarthy slow and come to a halt by being gummed up by Ellmers glue
Sorry, but I find this story very difficult to believe. McCarthy had his family with him when he announced he was dropping from his candidacy for Speaker of the House.

You forgot the sarcasm tag.
Surrounded themselves on camera by “supportive” family is a reflexive response for adulterous and/or criminal pols. That’s usually how you can tell they did it.

Oh, I have little doubt that McCarthy and the Tea Party betrayer and Amnesty-supporter Renee Ellmers had an affair and that she did not hesitate to spread her legs for him. I just don’t believe these two will be resigning today. They are on their personal gravy train and have no intention of getting off IMHO.
I thought that was the case, but I seem to recall that there have been instances in which a person has been selected to fill a vacancy. Or is my memory just faulty here?
Senators can be appointed by their state’s governor. The House is governed by the Constitutional clause (Article I, Section 2: “When vacancies happen in the [House] Representation from any State, the Executive Authority thereof shall issue Writs of Election to fill such Vacancies.”)
Thank you so much. FReepers are such good teachers.
I am embarrassed about my lack of knowledge in this area.
Your mistake is understandable. Since 1913, most of the features which made the Senate unique have been eliminated, such that the States’ former ambassadors to DC and to each other have been turned into super-congressmen with longer terms and bigger staffs.
Governors filling vacancies in the Senate merely recalls, for anyone who went to school before 1970, the way it was meant to be.
Possible, but *not* as likely as Bonehead attempting to do so, but failing miserably. Bonehead is known as a heavy drinker, and overindulgence in alcohol is well-known to lead to ED (erectile dysfunction)...
the infowarrior
It would seem hypocritical of those who want to disqualify McCarthy and Ellmers because they had an affair, yet support Trump, who also had at least one affair.
But FR has been rife with hypocrisy as of late, so maybe hypocrisy is the new normal.
