Remember Ted Cruz?
Way back last spring, it seemed the Texas senator could be the front-runner for the most extreme, anti-reason candidate in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. That was, of course, before Donald “All Mexicans Are Rapists” Trump captured the attention of the American populace, turning what was your standard 47-candidate presidential primary into a giant, media-fueled train wreck that the nation’s Democrats are slowly driving by with equal parts horror and delight.
Unfortunately for all candidates who are not Donald “Pass the Hairspray” Trump, you’ve basically got to believe in phrenology, bloodletting, and finding Jesus in a piece of toast to stand out in this crowd. Which brings us to Ted Cruz.
Time reports that at a pageant hosted by the very rich and very evil Koch brothers in order to suss out the candidate they’re going to purchase this time around, Cruz said that climate change is a myth perpetuated by scientists and researchers in order to … well, he didn’t exactly specify why they would engage in a massive campaign to convince you that the planet is in peril when it’s really doing just fine, but he’s pretty sure it’s happening:
“If you look at satellite data for the last 18 years, there’s been zero recorded warming,” Cruz said in California’s Orange County. “The satellite says it ain’t happening.”
Instead, Cruz said, government researchers are reverse engineering data sets to falsify changes in the climate. “They’re cooking the books. They’re actually adjusting the numbers,” Cruz said. “Enron used to do their books the same way.” …
“Senator, you’re not saying global warming isn’t real?” interrupted his interviewer, Politico’s Mike Allen.
“I’m saying that data and facts don’t support it,” Cruz said to applause from 450 donors to the political network organized by billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch.
At least the man knows his audience.
Cruz is, to put it bluntly, an idiot — possibly even up there with Donald “John McCain Is a P****” Trump. And while Cruz isn’t alone in the Republican Party in rejecting climate change, the scientific establishment — as well as anyone who has been outside this summer — can clearly see that it’s hot as f*** out there and only getting hotter. Or maybe it’s just all the hot air seeping from the GOP.
Nope. It’s climate change.

I’m sure there are some older folks on FR that remember when we were in grade school and had to walk to school, there was a lot of snow, wind, rain...but we walked because on ‘really’ outlaying areas were given bus service and we only had one car and it when with whoever was working....
I don’t believe that there is a ‘warming’ trend nor do I believe there is a ‘cooling’ trend....it’s nature....its the way life is...
Some idiot somewhere in the world decided this was a good way to make money, so a word here and a word there and what do we have....a bunch of crap about the weather....it’s either hot, mild, cold, windy, humid, snowy, sunny....live and let live....

One hundred percent of climate change/global warming investigative scientists who are receiving a government grant to prove it say it’s true.
I don’t know if it was scientists or politicians, but they were certainly communists. The aim? To drain the USA of it’s wealth.

So Enron and others wondered, why not do the same thing with CO2? Since natural gas is a lower CO2 emitter than coal, that development would certainly be a profitability game changer. But there was a problem. Unlike SO2, CO2 wasn’t a pollutant–at least not then–and the EPA had no authority to regulate it.
After Senator Wirth became undersecretary of state for global affairs in the Clinton-Gore administration, he began working closely with Enron’s boss, Kenneth Lay, to lobby Congress to grant the EPA the authority to control CO2. Between 1994 and 1996 the Enron Foundation contributed nearly $1 million to the Nature Conservancy, and together with the Pew Center and the Heinz Foundation, it engaged in an energetic and successful global warming fear campaign that included attacks on dissenters. That was a time when that exact same Heinz Foundation, headed by Teresa Heinz Kerry, awarded a $250,000 scientific award to key global warming alarmist and director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, James Hansen, who then publicly supported her husband in his failed presidential bid.
A Sept. 1, 1998, letter from Enron CEO Ken Lay to President Bill Clinton requested that he “moderate the political aspects” of the climate discussion by appointing a “Blue Ribbon Commission.” His intent was clear: to trash disbelievers and cut off debate on the matter.
Lay had direct contact with the White House earlier when he reportedly met with President Clinton and Vice President Gore on Aug. 4, 1997, to prepare a U.S. strategy for an upcoming Kyoto climate summit that December. Kyoto presented the first step toward creating a carbon market that Enron desperately wanted Congress to support. An internal Enron memorandum stated that Kyoto would “do more to promote Enron’s business than almost any other regulatory initiative outside the restructuring [of] the energy and natural gas industries in Europe and the United States.”

Justify their utopian political fantasies featuring themselves as saviors of the universe.
Pass laws to make themselves and their cronies rich at everyone else’s expense.
There are multiple motivations for them to fudge their research.
