This week Iran’s Revolutionary Guards seized control of a Marshall Islands-flagged cargo ship during its transit of the Strait of Hormuz. The MV Maersk Tigris initially ignored Iranian orders to head into its waters until the Revolutionary Guard patrol boats fired warning shots across its bow. The Iranians boarded and confiscated the ship after an Iranian court had ordered the ship to be impounded.

The MV Maersk Tigris left the Red Sea port of Jeddah bound for the United Arab Emirates before it was detoured by the Iranians. Iran claimed the ship will be impounded at the Gulf port of Bandar Abbas because of alleged unpaid debts. The debt, $3.6 million, is owed by the Maersk Line for undelivered cargo in 2005. The cargo was delivered to an Iranian company in Dubai, United Arab Emirates but was never collected. It’s a safe bet that it was disposed of by local authorities. The devil in the details the Iranians undoubtedly don’t care about is the fact that the cargo ship doesn’t belong to Maersk but to Rickmers Ship Management in Singapore.

As the Islamists were boarding the ship, the crew sent out distress calls over open channels which were heard by U.S. Central Command. The command dispatched a P-3 Orion and the destroyer USS Farragut to the last location of the MV Maersk Tigris. The United States and the Marshall Islands have a security compact in which the United States is responsible for the security and defense of the Republic and its flagged vessels. Mullah Obama would not lift a finger to prevent 4 Americans being murdered by his fellow Muslims in Benghazi. Swell chance the Marshall Islands have getting Barack to honor a security compact. (1)

The Obama administration is so desperate to have a nuclear agreement that...

The Danish company said it had been told by the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization at a meeting Wednesday that the seizure was linked to the loss of 10 containers it had shipped to Dubai for an Iranian company in January 2005.

“The containers were never collected by the consignee or any other party. After 90 days and in accordance with United Arab Emirates law, the cargo was disposed of by (the) authorities,” it said.

Several Iranian district courts had dismissed a $4.0 million (3.59 million euro) lawsuit by the Iranian company against Maersk over the lost cargo but in February the group had accepted an appeal court’s ruling to pay the firm $163,000.

The group said it had been told at the Wednesday meeting that following another appeal it had been ordered to pay $3.6 million in compensation.

“As we do not have the details of the ruling we are not able to comment,” it said.

The Pentagon said on Wednesday that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards had “harassed” a US-flagged commercial ship last week in the Gulf, raising security concerns over shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, through which a third of global marine oil traffic passes.

May 18, 2008: Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don't pose a serious threat to us. ...they spend 1/100th of what we spend on the military. I mean, if Iran ever tried to pose a serious threat to us, they wouldn't stand a chance.

May 20, 2008 (2 days later!): Iran is a grave threat. It has an illicit nuclear program. It supports terrorism across the regions and militias in Iraq. It threatens Israel's existence. It denies the Holocaust.

I’d rather him do ‘nothing’ than continue with his devastating “fundamental transformation of America”.

The undocumented Obama (without a SS# or BC)
is ONLY doing what the miserable, lying, EXEMPT GOP
wants him to do: DESTROY the Constitution and
American security ... or Islam and criminal illegals.

Øbongo reminds me of a bass player we once hired.

At the audition he (initially) impressed us because he showed up “in costume” - wearing stage clothes. He came well-equipped with top-notch gear that leaned heavily on the ostentatious side. I could tell that he had once been a guitar player by the way he approached playing the bass - lots of emphasis on riffs and flourishes instead of mindfulness on the root.

He dazzled several of my mates and got the job (over my objections) but didn’t last long because of one critical fact - as a bass player he sucked! He was so focused on the flash that he sacrificed the fundamentals. His focus was on drawing attention to himself and the music came a distant second. We stumbled through a couple of gigs with him and, again, I voiced my concerns to my mates but they were still mesmerized by his style and oblivious to his lack of substance.

I finally fired him one night. He had a wireless for his bass and he wandered out into the audience to play an impromptu solo. The audience was digging it so we let him go. As it turned out there was a female in the audience that he had been trying to hit on and he (almost literally) threw himself at her. She got up and went to the ladies room to avoid him and he followed her in! I retrieved him and fired him on the spot - right in the middle of the gig. We finished without him and found someone else.

Øbongo is all hat and no cattle.

he’s not doing nothing.

he’s ordered the US military to guard the Iranian IslamoNazis, he’s threated to “go to war against’ anybody else who dares try to eliminate their nuclear bomb and missile factories/arsenals, he’s been providing the Mullahs all sorts of political cover while attacking our allies in the region, and he’s arranged for them to receive many billions of dollars right now when they need it to complete their attack buildup, etc.

far, far from ‘doing nothing’

never, ever think O is ‘doing nothing’..... I can’t recall an instance when that was the case .... he is always up to something and if you don’t see it, its secretive, hidden but he’s always doing something (evil, and against the interests of USA, Christians, the Church, Jews, Israel, the UK, and what little remains of Christian Europe)

As a guitar player, and bass player in the past, I absolutely HATE THAT. Play the dam BASS, or become a lead guitarist! Can you imagine what that’s like for the drummer?

Then the world is blind - he’s single handedly accomplishing what he set out to do - fundamental transformation of this country and as a consequence the rest of the world.

Being a drummer, it's miserable unless you're playing progressive jazz. With rock base, less is usually more. That's why so many Stones songs have stood the test of time. Bill Wyman had a brilliant simplicity to their arrangements.

The United States and the Marshall Islands have a security compact in which the United States is responsible for the security and defense of the Republic and its flagged vessels.

If you like your security compact, you can keep your security compact.

Maybe the MI can sell it to the Venezuelans for a toilet paper substitute.
