In what was no doubt a rare moment for all involved, Huffington Post editorial director Howard Fineman noted on MSNBCs Hardball w/ Chris Matthews that Harvard Law School professors were in awe of Texas Republican Senator and presidential candidate Ted Cruzs intellect.
At Harvard Law School, he was the professors were in awe of his intellect, Fineman noted. Even if they disagreed with him, which they did vehemently, these people knew that this guy was trained under the Federalist Society second-generation Republican wave. In other words, not the Reagan years, but these years.
The rare complement from the dedicated liberal came in the midst of a fourteen-minute Cruz bashfest led by host Chris Matthews. Fineman himself wrote an editorial earlier in the day mocking Cruz as anti-abortion, a global-warming mega-skeptic, to the right of Likud on Israel, [and] anti-immigration to the max
Bump and ping. Sheesh, I haven’t said that in years.
Hey 2ndDivisionVet, I don’t have much time for FR these days but when I do I usually see you posting something I like. Keep it up!
Thank you.
[anti-abortion, a global-warming mega-skeptic, to the right of Likud on Israel, [and] anti-immigration to the max ]
Sounds perfectly normal to me.
Cruz is crazy smart but it still makes me a tad squeamish that some on our side are now ringing the “superior intellect candidate” bell that the Left clanged for Obama.
As sure as God made Little Green Apples you KNOW that as soon as a Republican starts making traction, some Liberal is going to start screeching.... “He’s stooopid!” It’s as predictable as the sun rising in the East.
But, now they can’t. This is really going to hurt their game.
Yeh 2D-Vet helps keep the joint hoppin’.
Ah, but we can PROVE that our “superior intellect candidate” is everything we claim and more! Mr. Obama never released his grades at any school he attended, never wrote an article, even though he was editor of the law review, etc. Mr. Cruz on the other hand, wrote numerous articles as editor and was also executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, and a founding editor of the Harvard Latino Law Review. THREE law reviews!
While at Princeton, he competed for the American Whig-Cliosophic Society’s Debate Panel and won the top speaker award at both the 1992 U.S. National Debating Championship and the 1992 North American Debating Championship. In 1992, he was named U.S. National Speaker of the Year, as well as Team of the Year, with his debate partner, David Panton. Cruz was a semi-finalist at the 1995 World Universities Debating Championship, making him Princetons highest-ranked debater at the championship. Princeton’s debate team later named their annual novice championship after Cruz.
Beginning to see the difference?
I see the difference, obviously. But the relative merit is not what Im referring to. It is the argument itself.
Play ball!

Viking: I have a really slow internet connection and do not post at all or reply very often, but your alphabet soup description deserves the time to say........very funny and right on.
Obama can’t talk to elementary school students without a teleprompter = smartest human Evan’.
Sarah Palin jots a note on her hand = stupidest person Evan’.
The left media is so predictable. It’s like they use Mad Libs for every single story.
There is a strong difference in that comparison. For the left and Obama, there really wasn’t a bell there to ring. Call it an air-toll if you will. Nothing there to gong.
****The rare complement from the dedicated liberal****
Shouldn’t that be ‘compliment’?
Some editor!!!!!!!
And Obama’s professors don’t even remember him being there!
Nowhere near the awe, however, that was fawned all over the first mulatto editor of The Harvard Law Review who happened to produce exactly ZERO scholarly articles. How many cases did the mulatto argue before SCOTUS exactly?
