I just did my income taxes
It came to a question of Did I have health insurance coverage and I answered NO (there was no option for none of your f%^&ing business) I wanted to see where this was going to take me.
It then asked why I didn't have coverage and said that under special circumstances that my fine/tax could be waived and it listed 5 options- one of which was It was too expensive and so I picked that... (inexplicably again there was no option for none of your f%^&ing business)
Then it said Congratulations! your fine/tax fee is waived
So, apparently you need to buy insurance, unless you dont
Check a box saying "I couldn't afford it"??
This law is stupider and stupider...
Prisoner X, do you plead guilty?>
No.
Okay, then you're free.
Don’t any of you dummies understand nuanced taxes? /s/
Oh, so you don’t want to pay your “fair share”, huh? </sarc>
May I ask what tax prep program were you using that gave you this option and answer?
According to the research that I did, the penalty can be waived if there is a financial hardship. Among the many definitions, one piece of evidence requested is a recent utility bill showing a delinquency. Seems to me that it shouldn’t be too difficult OR expensive to accrue that.
Dear taxpayer:
Please, comrade, it’s not a fine OR a tax.
It’s an “individual shared responsibility payment”.
It’s always good to share, and everybody should be responsible.
So, do your duty and pay your fair share.
Love,
Barack
Thank you! Now all I need know is, what happens if you say “yes.” Seriously. My answer would be, technically, “sorta,” so it could go either way and the conscience be clear. :)
Terrorist. ..
This was using Turbo Tax online
I love that program- I think it does a pretty good job and is very easy
What happens if you go somewhere like H/R block, will the same thing apply there?
I did same, uninsured for whole year, but now IRS is auditing me. Still waiting for refund, I started new job in Nov without benefits.
Auditing will take 60 days.
Just a heads up on Turbo Tax, they keep a record of your filing in a data base.
I heard that if you have one late payment to a utility it exempts you from 0care. That is all the proof you need is that late bill.
Crucifixion?
No, they said I hadn’t done anything and I could go free.
OK, off you go then.
This would work except you’re on FR.
So expect a visit from John Koskinen sometime later this summer, LOL.
“”So expect a visit from John Koskinen sometime later this summer, LOL.””
As slow as that guy works, you’ll be retired by the time he gets around to check anything.....
LOL
How old IS that guy....I had his brother as a professor (thermodynamics) in engineering school...back in the late 1960s...amazing.
