Among the 110 California patients, 49 (45%) were unvaccinated; five (5%) had 1 dose of measles-containing vaccine, seven (6%) had 2 doses, one (1%) had 3 doses, 47 (43%) had unknown or undocumented vaccination status, and one (1%) had immunoglobulin G seropositivity documented, which indicates prior vaccination or measles infection at an undetermined time. Twelve of the unvaccinated patients were infants too young to be vaccinated. Among the 37 remaining vaccine-eligible patients, 28 (67%) were intentionally unvaccinated because of personal beliefs, and one was on an alternative plan for vaccination.

What are you talking about? How does that relate to this?
As far as an original case, I heard it was a tourist from the Philippines.
Then Disney employees spread it wider.
Preppers’ PING!!
Sooner or later they will ‘accidently’ or on purpose bring some across even deadlier.
It confirms that unvaccinated people spread measles and are a form of health hazard to small children.
“43%, or nearly double the number, were “unknown or undocumented” as to their vaccinated status, which means they weren’t here in the country legally.”
No, it does not mean that at all.
So less than one percent of the infected population had been properly vaccinated. Looks like a pretty effective vaccine.
There are a present any number of outbreaks that lead back to illegals including whooping cough and EV-D68. Wake-up and smell the coffee.
I thought measles had been eradicated in the US in 2000. It sure seems a little suspicious that it pops up again after the kids from Central America are allowed to illegally cross our boarder...
If you have a high enough vaccination rate from the people who are here in this country’s then any foreigners coming in with a disease like that won’t cause an outbreak.
It pays to have a high vaccination rate here!
“In addition despite the claim that the measles vaccine is 97% effective if you have either 2 or 3 doses the actual field failure rate appears to be rather high. In other words are they’re lying about the effectiveness of the vaccine too?”
The writer has no idea about the subject they are writing about.
Actually, more than 40 percent we don’t know, so the numbers aren’t all in yet, but 49 percent is the number we’re going with so far.
American schools will not accept a child until their shot record is up to date
If things have changed since then, I don't know about it ... and even if they have ... the greater majority of American kids have been vaccinated, IF for no other reason than that they're required and for many (welfare types) absolutely free
ESPECIALLY measles.
WE HAD, FOR ALL PRACTICLE PURPOSES ERADICATED IT
So what changed ... ?
illegals
period
Please enlighten us, Miss KnowItAll.
If your government can force medicate you, then they can make you “drink the Kool-Aid”.
Apparently, unless a parent signs an exemption, which is a waiver so that they have to keep their unvaccinated kids at home if a known measles outbreak has occurred at the school. That’s Pennsylvania rules. But otherwise, you are right, we have the issue largely under control.
Once, a doctor gave me a talk encouraging more vaccinations for my children, and the argument she used was that many people are coming here from other countries and that’s why we’re seeing outbreaks today. So, doctors themselves say it.
The writer claims to be able to deduce the effectiveness of the Measles Vaccine with the questionable statistics provided.
Even if one were to accept the data provided, there would not be enough data to determine the effectiveness of the vaccine.
I will bet the parents and kids will be very glad for the natural immunity
You can get vaccination waivers in most states for religious reasons or medical reasons.
