Gospel songs rang through the sanctuary of a Florida church Sunday afternoon just before Trayvon Martins father exhorted the congregation to combat gun violence in black communities or risk losing a generation of young adults.
Tracy Martin told a Black Lives Matter ceremony at the Praise and Deliverance Church of God By Faith that while police shootings of young black men is a serious issue, its not the biggest one in black neighborhoods.
A far larger problem, Martin said, is the current generation of African-American children growing up without adult guidance and parental love.
While acknowledging Americas intransigent racial divide. Martin told the congregation to teach their children to solve problems without violence....

The solution to black yutes shooting each other is to take guns away from white people, of course.
How’s that working in Chicago and Detroit?
If You read the article, he’s actually making sense. What happened?
How exactly do you fight gun violence in black neighborhoods, Trayvon’s dad? Practical specific ways that actually work, not after-school special/npr bs, Trayvon’s dad.
It’s a little late for this bull**** isn’t it daddy?
What he said about lack of parental guidance and love and solving problems in the black community without resorting to violence is absolutely true.
But look what the reverend says...
Mr. Martin is making sense:
A far larger problem, Martin said, is the current generation of African-American children growing up without adult guidance and parental love. . . . This generation of children is being lost, Martin said. Were committing genocide amongst ourselves. . . ."
Yes, he does make sense. I know many around here just see the words ‘trayvon’s dad’ and want to lash out because of the past but I think it’s wise to agree with people on certain civic issues where there can be agreement between differing groups and still disagree on some fundamental issues. I’m with you
He does say this——”A far larger problem, Martin said, is the current generation of African-American children growing up without adult guidance and parental love. “
He nailed it.
.
Well, at least he and nannie bloomers are on the same page. Has he turned in his “9” yet?
the reverend is a Whackjob. that much is predictable. the headliner on that story is that someone is actually making sense.
John Derbyshire suggested something similar, (”the talk”), and National Review fired him for his trouble.
If Trayvon’s Dad practiced what he now preaches, that ‘talk’ must have gone right over his son’s head.
Yep, next thing you know your son is out looking for Purple Drank, playing Fight Club on the streets, selling guns on the internet and jumping the neighborhood watch guy.
Start with your own damn people then, Mr. “Martin”...
Travon Marton’s father, the absentee father/gang member, now saying children need parents?
This is the same absentee father who mourned his dead son by impregnating his girlfriend of the month. He now has how many children - six? Does he support any of them?
Perhaps he’s been lurking on FR and got edumacated on the facts. Or perhaps he realizes that Al and Jesse already have the “black victimhood” market cornered and he needs to find another avenue to generate funds so he decided to speak truthfully. (What a novel idea, eh?)
Too little, too late.
Perhaps.
But a long journey begins with a single footstep.
I do not want to be so jaded I cannot see good news from that group.
