Marijuana destroys Families

My daughter will turn 19 this month. She is our fifth child. She has also been the most worrying to us as she started using drugs a long time ago. She said she first smoked weed at age 12. Since then she has gone on the try many other drugs to include meth, cocaine, pills and LSD and a few others I can’t name. Last year she was in intensive care for 8 days. She has also been in jail about seven or eight times and gone through rehab twice. She is currently living with her mother and I at home but things are getting very tense. She broke up with her boyfriend and says that the stress of breakup makes her want to go get high and chill with her friends. Her friends are not true friends as they are also on drugs. Every time she hangs out with them she stays wasted for a couple days and I had to take her to the ER twice due to overdose on alcohol. Add to all this she has been beat up several times and raped twice that she has admitted to. When you add into this chaos the fact that my wife suffers from a mental illness which is made worse with stress it gets even more chaotic. Now I am at the point where I will soon have to make the choice of allowing my wife to be hospitalized because of her mental illness or I put my daughter out because of the strife she is causing. We’ve offered her all the help in the world and she continues to go on binges and tell us that what we offer won’t help. The last time she got wasted she told us all to “Go f***” ourselves. That night she left the house and was brought home by the police when they found her walking down the highway. As a parent I love my daughter endlessly. But I don’t see how (or why) I should continue to allow her to destroy the rest of the family. But at the same time I feel guilty for what I am considering. We can’t force her into treatment as she is an “adult” and I’m afraid that she will either end up in prison or dead. All this started I believe because she started smoking weed. The weed lowered her inhibitions and resistance and she started doing other drugs. So I truly believe that weed is a gateway drug and should never be legalized. If someone needs it for medicinal purposes they should have to go to a pharmacy for it just like we do with other prescription medications. It hurts me to do it, but I think I may be evicting her from the house today when I get home from work.

WEll you are wrong there Bud, possessing a gun is a very powerful mind altering “drug” Having the power of life and death at you fingers? think about that.

If this is how you are thinking then perhaps you shouldn't be playing with guns. I certainly feel no compulsion to use them or contemplate the power they might give me over others. I don't think that way.

I've also experienced anesthesia. Knocked me right out, despite my best efforts to remain conscious. The notion that drugs don't have real and consequential effects on your brain processes is nonsense.

Any effect that guns have on the physiological processes of your brain is just imagined.

Interesting as that has been my experience too...
I knew people in university who smoked from sun up to sun down and operated fairly well though they would have done better without the stuff.
I went to a well known uni where we had a number of now world famous athletes who smoked dope while there. It was before drug tests.
I always chuckle when I see them pontificating on TV when I remember what they did in the frat house next door...heh....

Hey, I am not one pushing propaganda.

The first reaction from the defenders, wasn’t hey that was a terrible thing that it was illegal and law should have punished the dealer.

No, the first several posts implied that the young girl must have some kind of mental issue. Maybe she was crazy or something.

This is totally f-d up.

Apparent to the decent FR majority - DL's amen corner are welcome to embrace his false witness.

Ya, but in true form, you supporters of legal pot blamed the girl.

Classic.

No matter how illegal you make it or the punishment for it, seems like all you want to do is kill people for it. What are you some islmo nut or what?

Not at all. I'm a person who has looked at history and realized that killing drug dealers is the only tactic which has worked in the past. It still works today. Singapore's drug usages is far below ours.

People who push drugs on other people often ruin their lives or kill them, it is only fitting that they should be killed for doing it.

Ya. And you guys blamed her. A 12 year old girl. Bad, really bad!

You suggested the fault was hers. A 12 year old baby. That she must have been crazy or an addict or something.

Dude, you need to give up the drugs. They are affecting your rational thinking.

If you are really trying to convey a message there, maybe you should make it readable and an explanation to its context.

You are mistaken in your discernment of my intent. I never intended that anyone should look at it, I only use it for storing bits and pieces of information on another topic which I have argued over the years. It serves as a convenient place for me to put things.

It is unfortunate that some of my sources have been cut by bad links.

Oh man, the Spanish Inquisition would have loved you.

Yes, telling off drug pushers is EXACTLY LIKE torturing people to death. Sure. Got it.

Exactly.

Notice how the proponents attacked the victim, the little girl. The claimed that she must be an addict or some absurd excuse.

As if it was her fault for her addiction.

You are about the fifth person to use that nonsensical "guns are just like drugs" analogy. No they are not. Guns do not tamper with the nerve connections inside your brain. Guns do not interfere with the normal physiological process of your body.

So ... Dio, how on earth is the mechanism -- whether it's "tampering with nerve connections" that makes addition happen in the first place or "finger on the trigger" that makes a gun death happen in the first place, relevant?

A PERSON decided to pull the trigger, rightly or wrongly, and a PERSON decided to smoke the week or drink the booze, rightly or wrongly.

Blaming a drug for an addition is EXACTLY like blaming a gun for a shooting.

Good call on your part on the eviction. Make clear if she ever decides to grow up, become an adult and be a part of the family vice a curse to it tell her you’ll welcome her back.. but only on those terms.

Your responsibility is to teach right & wrong, the right morals and ethics and to lay the foundation to make it in life and tell them you love them. Their job is to learn but it’s their choice not yours.

Eventually most will come around but if they don’t and you did the above, you’re not at fault.

Feeble dodge; I have the guts to state for the record that I support the continued legality of alcohol and tobacco (whether or not they "need" it) - do you have the guts?

I think the regulation of Alcohol needs to be tightened up, and I think Tobacco needs to be slowly strangled out of existence, which is exactly what is currently happening.

Tobacco especially leaves behind a massive legacy of dead bodies and shattered lives. Alcohol only kills about 85,000 people per year, and I figure we can put up with those losses.

As with many other drugs, the people who get started on tobacco have no idea what they are getting themselves into until it is too late.

Yep, you fixed it good and you are only one notch below the islamofacist that would kill to try and prevent it. You as much said so by saying we should kill all drug dealers, I can give you copy and verse if need be.

Well add me to the list. I think drug dealers need to be killed too. I've known too many people who died because someone handed them their first doobie.

As if it was her fault for her addiction.

Nobody said or implied that - just pointed out that many people use pot and don't end up like her.

I see. So alcohol, which most emphatically tampers with the nerve connections inside your brain ... is different because ... ???????

Because humanity has a ten million year old association with it and decided to keep it.

We have no obligation to be "fair" to other drugs. Given the serious damage that Alcohol and Tobacco does, a person would have to be nuts to wish more death and misery on the people.

Where'd I do that?

LOL That's pretty f'n funny. Projecting much? Now answer my question.
