I did my Income Taxes online last night. I got a surprise near the end. The tax program, I've used for years would not let me complete the process until I answered "Government Required" questions re: my family's health care. It began with: "Due to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act......" It seemed to indicate that if one does not have Health Coverage, it could hold up your Tax Return.
That's your Government at work "for you"!
I used Turbo Tax on line weeks ago. Got my State return back already - but I think the Federal return will be held up for a while due to this stupidity, even though my return was most likely at the TOP of the electronic pile to process.
I was only asked IF I had my own health insurance and nothing beyond that.
Damn to Hell every last moron who voted for Obama (includes some family members), and every last criminal in Congress who voted for O-care.
Pay state tax.
Disregard federal.
Have you ever noticed that everything on your tax return is a “government required” question?
Why would the ACA questions surprise you?
“He’s such a nice, kind man”, a Libinlaw.
It wouldn’t holdup your tax return, it would assess a penalty on your tax return if you didn’t get it like you were supposed to ... :-) ...
Why would the ACA questions surprise you?

Because I wasn’t thinking about the fine/penalty for not signing up for ObamaCare to be deducted from one’s Tax Refund. It shows just how determined they are to force people to enroll in the crappy ACA or be punished.
Thanks, John Roberts. /s
Can’t afford to pay the taxes because of the scum in the WH and he wants me to pay extra so they can rape the funds (just like all of the others; social security, Medicare, etc...) and go on even mre golfing trips and vacations...
The IRS and the SS have a few things in common.
My CPA sent a 2-pg questionnaire about the ACA, with dozens of questions and a month-by-month detail explanation of health care plans, coverage and costs. If you have an “ACA-approved” plan, simply answer ‘yes’ to the 1st question, and skip the rest of the questionnaire. Otherwise, a LOT of detail is required to substantiate 2014 coverage. This is just more govt-mandated insidious and onerous crap, but who didn’t see it coming?
Last week, I tried to sign my wife up for health care on line and in every instance (I WANT LINKS TO NON GOVT INSURANCE) I was asked if she was eligible for a subsidy and I always answered NO ... and I haven’t heard a THING from anybody
It's a conundrum. Pay a "tax" in order to retain Freedom or register and work as a serf on one of the insurance plantations for part of the year. For healthy people in the bulk of the middle class, the annual tax is still cheaper in most cases than the average monthly tribute which they call a "premium". And for Sovereign Individuals, the moral hazard in succumbing to involuntary servitude is to be eschewed at all costs.
Bahahaha - yep, and “he’s trying to do what’s best for everyone, but those Republicans...”
I don’t get a refund. Nothing holds up my “return” except me. When I “return” it with a check, I’m done.
That is why in 2012 I tried hard to express why Romney. What most bloggers did not understand that Romney said very strongly that the Federal Government must not have Obamacare. He said that the Federal Government must never have a health care system. He wanted to repeal it. I guess some fools just don't follow Romney very much and their loss. He wasn't perfect but one hell better than King Obama.
Obamacare was a RED LINE for me. I’ve put up with all sorts of federal government incursion into my private life. Obamacare is USSR government. I refuse to comply. I have no health insurance as of January 1, 2014. It is against my core beliefs as long as the FedGov requires it. Once Obamacare is lifted, I’ll return to health care insurance. If it is not lifted, I’ll die without health care insurance.
As John Adams said, we need to be willing to forfeit not our lives, but our COMFORT. It is hard for Americans to do because we have so many comforts. I’m intentionally weening myself off them, one by one. Oddly, I’m also enjoying life more.
