I will be brief, as this could turn out to be a bum wrap.
We don’t know now, and may never know, what transpired in “Deflategate.” Notwithstanding, the nation - and by “nation” I mean the main stream media (MSM) - has now officially spent more time examining a scandal surrounding the inaccurate inflation of NFL footballs than we have spent on all of the following phony national scandals collectively:
Apparently integrity still matters in athletics. We know that honor and veracity have no role in politics. And we understand that they have been demoted to “optional” in most other realms of modern society as well – butt sports!? Athletics was supposed to be the last bastion of honesty, the final barricade between civilization and total moral relativism. And now even they’ve let us down. This breach of trust cannot go unpunished.
Awareness of this injustice must be raised. Why? Because “Athletic Lies Matter.”
And don’t worry, we WILL get to the bottom of this because you will not find a bigger batch of athletic supporters anywhere on the planet than the MSM.
So just as every major news network led their coverage with Deflategate last week, expect them to continue to dog this story until they’ve sniffed out the truth.
We would expect nothing less from them.

The media won’t even deal with the inflated temperature statistic (NASA’s scientists only have 38% faith in the numbers) that they (and the POTUS in the SOTUS) used to bash “deniers” with.
Too bad the NYT, Washington Post et al did not sniff out the truth about Obama and Hillary in Benghazi-Gate with the enthusiasm that the press is pursuing this lame story.
What if the truth is that the temperature really did reduce the air pressure? When I start driving on a cold morning my tire pressure is about 31. After 50 miles of driving as the sun comes up, the pressure goes up to around 33PSI. I see this every morning on the instrument panel.
I still say sabotage...but I don't know how.
and wbat? Had they kept using those footballs the Pats ones would have been down to 8.5 and 9 psi by late 4th qtr and the Colts football still ok? In abovs-freezing weather?
This turned out to be untrue. Everone who leaped on this "fact" derived from some "unnamed source close to the League" and used it to pillory the Patriots now has egg all over themselves, head to toe.
We know that Mortensen originally reported that D'Quell Jackson of the Indianapolis Colts intercepted a Brady pass, and "thought the football felt soft, and reprted this to his equipment manager." However, D'Quell himself has come out to say that this was untrue, "I gave that ball to my equipment manager to save for me to put in my trophy case; I wanted to keep the ball I intercepted from the greatest QB of all time. There was nothing wrong with that ball."
So, if Jackson didn't complain about a soft football, who did?
Somebody knew the balls were under, and notified the Refs. Who? Could it have been the person responsible for the balls being marginally under spec?
We know Ravens Coach Harbaugh, humiliated the week before by another Patriot's ass whipping, called the Colts Coach Pagano to "warn him about Patriots foootball pressure."
If this turns out to have been Harbaugh and Pagano trying to kneecap the Patriots so their teams could get to the Super Biowl in the future, both should be suspended from the NFL permanently.
If the Patriots are found to have tampered, the same applies to them.
If, however, they are exonerated of any guilt, the Media and all the sphincters around the world who used this second cooked-up, phony assault on Patriots Nation to attack them unfairly owe the Patriots a HUGE apology.
Of course, it will never be forthcoming because scum are just that, scum. Scum don't know shame.

That’s completely wrong. The media will dog the story to confirm their own biases regardless of the facts.
The Pats are being Palinized. They hate Belichick because he treats the media with obvious disdain.
Belichick had a press conference yesterday where he described in detail how balls are readied for games and how the pressure could drop shifting from indoors to outdoors. It was factually based and puts the ball, so to speak, in the NFL’s court, to prove otherwise.
Last night, Some idiot on ESPN radio, Jonathan Hood, ignored everything Belichick said and asked, “How could the Pats put themselves in this position,” as if the Pats invented the controversy themselves and assuming, from the get go, that the Pats did something wrong. . . without one shred of evidence.
“I can see Russia from my house” and the “Pats are cheaters” derives from the same media mindset. . . that certain people, ideas, teams whatever. . . . are to be demonized.
The gambling industry should put the odds out as follows:
What are the odds that the temperature would significantly impact 11 Patriot balls, but somehow escapes impact on the 12tth ball? And... What are the odds that the temperature would significantly impact 92 percent of the Patriots balls, but NOT the Colts balls?

Well, this is a far more mundane subject than bashing Mormonism or Catholicism for some, but there are a couple of things these people could keep in mind (if they actually had one) but people like some posters on this thread aren’t really interested in fact, they are far more interested in emotion, particularly their own stunted ones.
The issue for many of these people is not what was done, it was who supposedly did it. If they would at least man up and admit that was the case, I might have more respect for them, but since they don’t have the footballs to do it, I don’t.
ITEM 1
When the footballs are examined by officials before the game, are they using a gauge, or just going by feel...or...doing it at all? There are accounts by anonymous ball boys around the league (anonymous should be just as valid as the “source” that broke the story to a reporter, right?) who have been in the room with officials say they either don’t check the balls, or when they do, simply pick them up and put them back.
Did the officials record the pressure values anywhere? Do they have a logbook they keep them in? Did they have a little gauge in their pockets? Yes? Gee, where are they? Or do we just have the assertion they were checked and were within limits? What were the pressures when they were checked initially, for each ball? Inquiring minds want to know.

I know it is asking too much of the people who think that letting some air out of footballs is the most egregious violation of human rights or sports ethics to have ever been committed, but if one of them had a mind (which they don’t) to actually crack a book, would find out that simply inflating a ball to the lower levels of what is allowed by the league (12.5 psi) at 75 degrees (what the temperature likely was inside the room where the “measurements” were taken”) then moving them into a 50 degree environment caused the pressure to drop.
This was entirely predictable using the formula PV=nRT which alone, without any actual testing, predicted the loss of pressure seen. You don’t have to do the whole calculation, all you have to do is assume the gas volume remains constant, the amount of gas remains constant, the moles of gas remain constant, and...big surprise here...the gas constant remains constant. All you have to do is change the temperature from 75 degrees to 50 degrees and be generous, you don’t even have to go to 40 degrees. So the formula then becomes P=nRT/V. Changing the T on top to a lower value does what, if everything else stays constant? All together class: “IT MAKES THE VALUE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE EQUAL SIGN GO DOWN!” Which for the lesser-witted out there, means the pressure in the ball drops.
But to make it even more realistic, to simulate the weather, the balls were made wet with water (because, gee, it was raining that evening) and placed under a towel in the cooler room. This was done because as the leather becomes damp, it becomes more elastic, and the volume of the ball will actually increase even more. When measured again after wetting and cooling, all the balls had lost on average 1.8 psi. And that was only cooling to 50 degrees. It actually got down to 40 degrees in the game.
But, then the geniuses say “Wait! Wait! How come the balls used by the Colts did not exhibit the same decrease in pressure?!” Well, how do we know they didn’t? Did the officials record those values anywhere? How do we know they did? Do they have little log books? And since the Colts are responsible for their own bag of footballs, could they *possibly* have inflated them to the higher end, because some people like them inflated to the upper limit or above it? Aaron Rogers surely does like them that way. Or do we just take their word for it that they measured them?
Given that this is a witch hunt, we know the answer to that. If the people who made this an issue had the balls to stand up and say why this IS an issue, they would be more worthy of consideration.
I think one only has to look at the “Gate” tacked on to everything. Liberalism at its apogee was the source of that, and I think it is revealing when people use it...liberally.
Turns out the original report was grossly in error, perhaps with the intent of cementing public opinion from the start. I mean, how could 11 of 12 be down exactly 2-psi unless someone tampered with them?
That would explain the need for the lie…
The originally reported "finger man," who supposedly notified the refs when the ball he intercepted from Brady "seemed soft to him..." (D'Quell Jackson, IN Colts) has publicly rebutted that initial falsehood, saying that he only gave the ball to his equipment manager to save for him so he could put it in his trophy case. He said, "There was nothing wrong with that ball."
Hmmmm. Why the lie...?
It was also just reported that the NFL League Official heading up this witch-hunt has been trying all season long... unsuccessfully... to nail the Patriots for a "ball inflation violation."
It turns out he's a former assistant coach with Belichick, and most recently spent years with the New York Jets.
Might explain why they never bothered to interview Tom Brady. The investigation is headed elsewhere.
I had a feeling that was the case when I saw how forcefully and emphatically Belichick threw this back on the League's doorstep. Get yer popcorn
My original take on this was that the Patriots inflated all of the balls to the lowest allowable level, and placed one at the top of the bag inflated to above the upper level with the expectation that the lazy refs would grab the top ball, turn it over in their hands and throw it back in.
I place this tempest in a teapot at the feet of Goodell and the idiotic rules. Belichick has a saying you hear all the time from him: “We do business the way business is being done.”
And the handling of footballs in this fashion by teams is how things are being done in the league. I didn’t hear that about Jackson and the ball.
Now that it has become (somewhat) known that the guilt may lie elsewhere besides the Pats, watch this “news-topping-headline” that “isn’t going anywhere soon!” just dissappear from the Lamestream Muckraker’s radar. You wait and see if I’m not right.
The entire thing was stupid from beginning to end. It is the typical result when people paint themselves into a corner as the NFL did.
If you have laws that are meaningless and unenforceable, the only purpose they serve is as a cudgel against people or entities you wish to persecute.
Beria, who ran the Police State for Stalin, knew this all too well: “You bring me the man, I’ll find you the crime.”
Americans should wise up to it, because any one of us is likely in violation of some law at any given time, even if it isn’t enforced.
