New Black Panther Party members are being urged in this new year to “go to the gun range, build up that army and go” by their leader Malik Zulu Shabazz, last year’s Party chairman and current head of Black Lawyers for Justice. Broadcasting on Black Power Radio, Shabazz is hoping to stir up more trouble for beleaguered police departments nationwide by calling on the Party to do “all of that,” meaning he’s urging his Black followers to not only improve their shooting skills, but to “lift weights, work out,” and prepare themselves by learning methods of self-defense.
Shabazz is citing powerful black leaders who in decades past urged blacks to ready themselves for possible urban warfare: “Mister Malcolm X, Elijah Muhammad, Mosiah Garvey, and Khalid Abdul Muhammed.” Preaching Black self-defense, Shabazz is telling his followers, “IT’S TIME TO GET STRONG!” “Right now it’s time to build up that army, build up those CORPS (not Corpse as Obama pronounced the word); those TROOPS!” (1) So as grieving police departments nationwide are reeling from the outright assassination of two of their NYPD brothers, this powerful Black leader ramps up the call for violence.
A Chicago officer suffered a leg injury and concussion this past week as his squad car was struck by an offender driving a stolen van. Cops in a Philadelphia suburb were attacked. A young black male at the scene of a South Florida melee said directly into the camera: “We fought back…when the cops got aggressive, we got aggressive.”
But thread commenters are blasting back at Shabazz’s inflammatory rhetoric. “The Progressives go after the so called skinheads for idle threats, being militant and [supporting] anarchy; [it’s] rather doubtful they [would] go after Black Panthers for the same thing. It’s time for the TAXPAYERS to only vote for candidates that will gut entitlements, so these idiots won’t have a pot to piss in.
