Academics and pundits have many criticisms of the Tea Party, e.g., its members are racists, sexists, homophobes, etc. These are unfounded claims, but there is one criticism that is true and it is holding this movement back: the Tea Party is disorganized and lacks sophistication and cohesion. This lack of organization has benefitted the Tea Party in some ways, but the time has come for this passionate but underdeveloped movement to reach its full potential. The Tea Party's goal for the new year should be to once again become a visible and vocal actor in American politics.
Claiming that the Tea Party needs to ramp things up again is not to say that the movement hasn't accomplished anything in the last few years. It does, however, mean that the Tea Party needs to return to its origins as a protest movement that exerts pressure on establishment politicians. The movement has had an influence at the ballot box, taking the House away from Democrats in 2010 and the Senate in 2014. However, electioneering has become the main, if not only, function of the movement. Instead of switching back and forth from protest to electioneering mode, the Tea Party needs to become a multi-faceted movement that constantly and relentlessly attacks its opponents from all angles. In the HBO miniseries "The Pacific", a character named Snafu gives advice that the Tea Party should follow. As Tea Partiers begin to undo Progressives' agenda -- something that has been in the works for a century -- their opponents will get even nastier, as difficult as that is to imagine. To combat this, Tea Partiers need to be willing to fight.

Maybe what we need is a Tea Party Contract with America. Set out the principles & then find the candidate.
I also like Trevor Loudon’s suggestion to run as a team this time. Get people like Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, Rick Perry, etc., & ask each to put ego aside, put the best person in a slot in a Tea Party Administration & run together. That would make the Libs & the GOP-e’s heads explode.
The Tea Party Movement was sparked mainly by tax and economic issues. Tax season is coming soon.
Remember this WHEN YOU DO YOUR TAXES IN APRIL) !
In case you didn’t notice or were not paying attention, here is what happened on January 1, 2014:
Top Medicare tax went from 1.45% to 2.35%, an increase of 62%.
Top Income tax bracket went from 35% to 39.6%, an increase of 13%.
Top Income payroll tax went from 37.4% to 52.2%, an increase of 52%.
Capital Gains tax went from 15% to 28% an increase of 87%.
Dividends tax went from 15% to 39.6%, an increase of 164%.
Estate tax went from 0% to 55%, an increase of infinity . . .
Remember this fact: These taxes were all passed with only Democrat votes. No Republicans voted for these taxes.
These taxes were all passed under the Affordable Care Act, aka OBAMACARE.
If you think it is important that everyone in the U. S. should know this, pass it on.
I agree with your post completely. Great post!!
The reason that Tea Party (TP) patriots are unorganized, imo, is just like most other citizens, they have probably never been taught about the federal governments constitutionally limited powers.
Consequently, TP patriots fall into the trap of defining conservativism as limited government spending, oblivious to the Supreme Courts clarification that Congress cannot appropriate revenues for anything that it cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
Again, the Constitution defines no federal taxing and spending as opposed the popular misconception of limited spending.
Sadly, Section 8 and excerpts from Supreme Court case opinions clarifying limits on Section 8 take up about two pages which the corrupt media is not about to get low-information voters, including TP patriots, up to speed on.
First the Tea Party needs to declare what it is and isn’t. Then ignore those who try to hijack it to suit their own specific agenda.
The TEA in Tea Party is Taxed Enough Already. Strictly Fiscal is my take. Not religeous, not 2A, not abortion, etc. Not that those issues are not worthy in their own rights, just Not Tea.
By focusing narrowly on fed fiscal issues and limits it will attract the broadest support. And that scares the crap out of Kstreet and their puppets.
or...
i’m with you on this & bet on the fact that dems & other of their ilk will try to tear down Ted Cruz if he runs in 2016.
i’m pretty sure Ted Cruz will be able to uphold most if not all of teaparty principles w/o actually endorsing the tea party ‘cause imho if he did endorse 100% it would not enhance his campaign if in fact he actually campaigns.
From the bottom of my heart I am and have been praying Ted will throw his hat in the ring & win. He will set this country straight.
One other very important thing:
I read when Mitch McConnell was re-elected ( to whatever he does)that one of McConnell goals was going to “isolate” Cruz in public forum, etc...to muffle him , to render him impotent, and i.e., to essentially de-ball him, essentially making him look bad in the court of public & private opinion.
Don’t let McConnell do this & he will thru the media.
Pray for a leader with integrity to lead our country out of this huge mess we are in
Cruz2016!
Works for me.
For starters, let’s have no lawyers or Ivy Leaguers.
28 straight years is enough.
Ah! Thank you.
Remember this: People that have no job are not concerned about taxes.
And yet you manage to keep the faith. Good for you. I hope this year turns out to be a good one for you and yours.
IMO, we shouldn’t be afraid to have a bigger tent than just lower taxes but we should never forget what T.E.A. stands for.
The people who create jobs are concerned and less likely to do so. Some will be motivated to eliminate jobs or reduce full time jobs to part time.
Rules for Radicals works on both sides of the aisle. Read it.
Tea Party Pingy.
It is extremely difficult to get on the ballot. The requirements are different in each state, and you need a committed and lively group in each state to do the work.
But that is what the Tea Party needs to do.
If they are on the ballot in 51 states, they become a national party and can receive the increased funding granted by our uniparty Congress.
Here are a few discouraging facts:
Three minor parties are recognized in more than 10 states:[2]
Libertarian Party: 35 states
Green Party: 20 states
Constitution Party: 14 states
The Daily Mail UK has one of the largest circulations of any English speaking news sites on the internet. Peruse the comments sections after the articles there, and you'll see that right of center opinions outweigh left of center opinions by a factor of ten to one.
People around the English speaking world are sick to death of the left.
Sure do:
There is no earthly leader leading it.
Time to seize the Moment! We must resist the RINO/Republican Party and their natural choice to pick whom ever the Democrats want (Jeb Bush) and select our own man! (or woman). We need a hard core group of Patriots—The Sons of Liberty to defend Americas way of life and counter the Anti-cop Communist Radicals. We need to put pressure on the Liberal Media every way we can. How about a demonstart outside the NYTimes Building! “Until the lies stop!” Protest TV stations that are Anti-American. Now is not the time to rest. We need a Full slate of Tea Party people for the coming election—we need to focus on a few we can support—Good people—Like Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Sarah Palin and others.
