Two weeks ago, a University of Chicago student, freshman Derek Caquelin, reported that they had received public threats of rape on Facebook, and that the perpetrator also called them racially offensive terms. After an investigation by the University, it has been determined that the student who reported the post was the person who actually wrote it.
Caquelin told the college that he had been hacked and that someone wrote the racist, threatening message on his profile. The University took the matter seriously and investigated the incident when it was first reported, and contacted a third party website-provider to find out who wrote the post. It turned out to be the person who reported the message.
After being confronted by the University, Caquelin wrote on Facebook, I am behind this, and only I. No others were involved, so I really would like to ask you to leave them alone. There is no excuse for hate, which includes what I did.
The students post was an attempt to bring attention to racial bias.
A number of students have actually come out to defend the post, including student activist Vincente Perez. He stated, Someone felt they had to show something extreme to get people to care. Think about that. This is not a justification. But think about what the weight of apathy can force people to do.

No, although that's the usual story. The post was an attempt to play-act a brave little victim bearing up under intolerable oppression. Calling it a consciousness-raising effort in an attempt to benefit other people is a cop-out on the level of "the dog ate my homework."
ANOTHER racial HOAX... imagine that...
so far they are batting 1000 on these
If I hear the word “activist” one more time, or if I see just one more of those Guy Fawkes “anonymous” masks, I may not be held responsible for my reactions.
Presumption of black guilt in all situations. It works for me.
Why am I not surprised?
The kid might have been popular at his HS; gets to U of Chicago and promptly got lost in the crowd;
his ego can’t handle it and he cooks this up,
while himself a properly politically correct reason for committing the act.
Correction: while (giving) himself . . .
I simply cannot type worth a hoot today. . . LOL
“...freshman Derek Caquelin, reported that they had received public threats of rape on Facebook, and that the perpetrator also called them racially offensive terms.”
Derek is a more than one person? Why the plural “they”? Are we confused about its sex?
“Someone felt they had to show something extreme to get people to care. Think about that.”
I have thought about it, and here’s my conclusion: if leftists feel the need to fake these incidents so often, then obviously real racism is mostly a thing of the past, and it is only the left that wants to perpetuate the problem.
‘think about what the weight of apathy can FORCE a person to do’
No. Apathy didn’t force this person to do anything. By virtue of living in this free country he has free will. Typical Lib blaming others for his own problems.

From the article:
“A number of students have actually come out to defend the post, including student activist Vincente Perez. He stated, Someone felt they had to show something extreme to get people to care. Think about that. This is not a justification. But think about what the weight of apathy can force people to do.
Fourth-year Jaime Sanchez, who co-led protests about the incident, said that it doesnt matter that the post was fake.
From the very beginning, our movement was never about particular incidents; it was about addressing the structural problem of everyday micro-aggressive racism on campus, he explained. Its unfortunate that this betrayal happened, but it was never even about the Facebook incident to begin with. It was always about the larger culture of intolerance that we should continue to focus on.
Mr. Sanchez, please define “structural problem of micro-aggressive racism.”
And, how can the fake Facebook be both unfortunate and not the issue at the same time?
Were you already leading protests about the “structural problem of micro-aggressive racism” on campus before the incident? If not, then the false posting was the catalyst.
Building your protest movement on lies and exaggeration is really good strategy for discrediting yourself and the “cause.”
But think about what this guy's total dishonesty to try and prove something that doesn't already exist, can do to hurt innocent people. Inventing events to prove a false narrative, does not make is so. Try living in the real world for a change and bringing attention to the good relationships that blacks and whites maintain throughout most of the country. He's getting a skewed, false vision of the world from inside his ivory tower college.
America is NOT a racist country. I mean, my God, look who we elected president two times in a row. Is there racism in America? Yes, most certainly, as there is in any country where people of different races live together But outside of these urban cesspools that the DemocRATS have created over the last 40-50 years, with their divisive and hateful policies and politics, most people, white, black, hispanic and asian get along just fine. It is the race baiters and hustlers who zero-in on isolated cases and then try to paint the entire country with their lying, false brush that is the problem.
Somehow they have convinced a portion of the country that this Ferguson incident is about race. It is not about race at all. It is about runaway thuggish, criminal behavior that the police have to deal with on a daily basis. So instead, of this being about a police officer who was doing his job to protect and serve the community, the racism merchants have turned it into a completely false story about a poor, gentle, black kid who was minding his own business, with his hands up in the air, telling the mean, evil racist police officer not to shoot. The policemen was doing his job. The dead man was a criminal, strong-armed robber, and disrespectful thug in his interaction with the cop.
Michael Brown may not have deserved to die, but he got what would be expected when anybody, white or black, engaged in the anti-social behavior he exhibited in his disrespect-for-the-law behavior. Play with fire and you're gonna get burnt. And until the conversation in this country starts to address this disrespectful, criminal behavioral attitude by young, out-of-control, urban black youths, these shooting while probably continue.
I found that confusing, as well.
But who are we to judge? Perhaps Derek identifies as a multiple? Maybe that is the next movement coming along now that we have individuals who say they “identify” as female when they are actually male and vice versa.
Wouldn’t (in a sane world), be a violation of a “honor code” or “code of ethics” at the University? Should he be put on probation or suspended?
They MUST have a racist America! They MUST! Without it they have only the mirror to answer their failures.
You know, like white guys have to do.
BJ gave kids the excuse oral sex isn't sex. Now, hussein has made lies a good thing and facts don't matter.
