Is it still alive and well in the movie industry today against movies that are not politically correct? There are many who find some ‘R’ rated Hollywood movies of today equally offensive but I don’t think Hollywood is listening.
Why would an old wonderful family motion picture offend anyone starring an African-American man whose stories fascinate both Black and White children?

Unlike Lucas, Spielberg changed course. The first DVD addition included the theatrical cut as a bonus disc. Now, the theatrical release is back to being the standard edition, and Spielberg has said he regrets tampering with it and has decided movies should remain as they are once released (I think fans of Close Encounters raise an eyebrow at that, but I’m not really familiar with their complaints).
That movie was shown on Disney, and I’ll bet everyone who was at least three or four years old at the time remembers it. Down the memory hole. Liberals ruin everything.
I got a pretty bad oicture one time in a movie theater when I slipped on a box of half melted Milk Duds. Bad experience.
Wow - heads would explode if anyone digs up the old “Little Black Sambo” cartoons.
Have owned a VHS copy for about 10 years or so by now.
It was produced for UK audiences i think , because the intro was heavy Brit accent. All of our kids enjoyed it.
Look around on the net to find a copy, should not be much of a problem. Disney is heavy handed with copyrights (try to find Disney needlepoint!) but they are probably too embarrassed to try to stop the distribution of this movie.

I saw the movie when I was 5, at one of the large downtown theaters in Dallas TX. I’m 72 now, but can still visualize many of the animated scenes from the movie. ...It was always one of my favorite movies from my childhood and I’ve never been able to understand why it’s been ‘banned’ as being racist. There is nothing racist in the movie.
Disney won’t release it again, perhaps. But there wasn’t “controversy” when it was released to the Hong Kong and Japanese markets on laserdisc (NTSC) or Ireland on VHS (PAL) in the 80s and 90s.

I was 7...went to see it every day it was shown...cost 9 cents.
A long time ago with the passage of many events since that time.
