It has been widely reported that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, widow of President John F. Kennedy, shared with family members she was certain that Kennedys Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson, arranged to have her husband murdered.
Soon that conclusion will be heard in the late First Ladys own words, because audio tapes, recorded of discussions with historian and close family associate, Arthur Schlesinger Jr., between March and June 1964, will be released and excerpts featured on an upcoming ABC News program in November marking the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedys assassination in Dallas.

The tapes, which insiders describe as featuring Ms. Kennedys disclosures of J.F.K.s affairs and her romantic liaisons in retaliation, also reportedly reveal her conviction that L.B.J., with a cabal of associates and Texas businessmen, orchestrated the plot culminating in the Kennedy assassination. This is in contrast to the account of these interviews in Barbara Leamings biography of Ms.Kennedy, The Winter of Her Despair.
The establishment theory of the Kennedy assassination, arguably the most controversial event in American history, is dubbed the lone gunman. It is the conclusion of the Warren Report, commissioned by newly sworn in Lyndon Johnson and chaired by then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Earl Warren.
It concludes that Kennedy was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald, a disturbed ex-Marine who had exhibited erratic actions and behavior and that Oswald shot the President from the 6th floor of the Dallas Book Depository building....

Someone goofed! This November will be the 51st. anniversary.
I was an adult when JFK was killed and many of us felt the same way, even in 1963.
.
“she was just about the flakiest, low quality woman to ever be married to a president. “
there’s a lot of competition for that title.
My husband and I always thought Lyndon Baines Johnson had a hand in the assignation of Kennedy.
Yeah, me too.
Jackie Kennedy had an IQ lower than the average summer temperature in Washington, DC. That’s why Jack married her.
Yes it is. Which is one reason why I still enjoy doing it even today.
Where did you hear that? On NPR?
I have a copy of A Texan Looks At Lyndon published in 1964 and I have always suspected LBJ was involved.
Recently I got a copy of Mortal Error by Bonar Menninger. It is about a man named Howard Donahue who studied the tragic even for 25 years. Donahue thought that JFK was shot by an FBI agent in the following car. I just started the book so I don’t know if he decided that it was a accidental shooting or part of an FBI plot.
Johnson was a ruthless S.O.B. who wanted to be President and hated Kennedy. Kennedy was assassinated in Johnson’s “territory”.
You’d be hopelessly naive if you didn’t at least consider the possibility that Johnson might have been involved. Personally, I don’t consider it likely, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some evidence eventually tuns up that implicated Johnson, either.
Ok, I googled Johnson wink photograph and I get a LOT of pictures. Tell me what to look for.
I don't pretend to know what happened. Clearly, Kennedy was offed. Many people wanted him gone, and at least one took action to achieve that goal.
However, I'm also about done with the conspiracy theories. I once saw a documentary about this incident, and one of the commentators said words to the effect that it is incredibly difficult for a lot of people to look at JFK - young, strong, vibrant, handsome, President of the United States, etc., and believe that a total loser like Oswald could fell this mighty oak all by his lonesome. You know, denial ain't just a river in Egypt - there IS some psychological need for a BIG reason why a worshipped figure (worshipped by the deluded, then and now) can be cut down in the prime of life. Somehow or other, there's a fear that having a loser murder him diminishes the hero image that many had of him. Me, I don't think so. Kennedy was what he was - a man who, at a young age, became President. Of course he looked vibrant and strong (esp. compared to 70 year old Ike), and he had this great-looking wife, and played football and had these cute kids, etc., etc. That didn't make him immune to a bullet or 2, any more than any young, strong soldier on a battlefield is immune to the same. He did some good and wise things, and also some bad and stupid things - like everyone else. As I said, he was a man, just a man, with the same vulnerabilities as the rest of us.
I have never forgotten that comment, and the simple truth is that the easiest explanation of an event is usually the correct one. Not always, but you'd have to prove that.
“JFKs daddy enlisted the help of his old mafia buddies to get them to get his son elected president.”
The detailed story to this is that this act is what lead to the total pollution of organized labor by the mob.
The Archbishop of Boston helped Joe get his hands on lots of cash, but he needed a way to get it handed out to union bosses so as to get them to have their people vote for JFK. To take this money around and distribute it, Joe had the mob as bag men. Once the mob realized how easy (and cheap) it was to influence shop stewards and low level union bosses, they didn’t end it with the 1960 election. That was how so many unions were taken over by pro mob people, pension funds were raided, etc, etc.
I agree. He had the most to gain.
That’s what E. Howard Hunt (Watergate burglar) said in his deathbed confession, and one has to wonder why he would not only lie, but make up such an elaborate and detailed explanation. LBJ, who was a beneficiary of help from J. Edgar Hoover, and a covert CIA hit team whose members spanned the Bay of Pigs to Iran-Contra.
So whats all that stuff on the Zapruder film?
That I did not know. Thank you for the information.
Would not surprise me but he probably had to get in line.
