The explosive wave of reactions to the fatal shooting of unarmed teen Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri hasnt lost its momentum just yet.
Black student leaders have come together in support of racial equality with the formation of a multi-university group, the Black Ivy Coalition.
The coalition dedicated to social change is comprised of members from all eight Ivy League institutions, with plans to gain student memberships from colleges across the nation, and was officiated with the release of a statement summarizing their motivations and ambitions (see full text below). Their tagline? It is now time for our generation to lead the movement against injustices toward people of color in the 21st Century.
"We decided that our plan of action would be to create a network of black student leaders nationally to organize joint protests, legislative advocacy, and to also reach out to community organizers in communities like Ferguson so we can be more effective allies and campus advocates," Denzel Cummings, UMOJA Co-Chair and University of Pennsylvania senior told The Huffington Post. "We felt this was important in creating a revival of collegiate advocacy."
The revival Cummings mentions draws on the coalitions inspiration from young leadership during the Civil Rights Movement such as the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and The Greensboro Four, both which received nods in the groups official statement.
The Black Ivy Coalitions formation is rooted in long term frustrations with inequality, but not coincidently, immediately followed a series of deaths of unarmed black men whose locations across the country varied, but whose time proximities to each other did not: Eric Garner, Michael Brown, and Ezell Ford....

Send ‘em back to Africa. I hear that Liberia needs replacement workers.
I had never experienced true segregation until I ended up attending an Ivy League university. Since I came in as a transfer, the dean of admissions gave the transfer students a special tour of the campus after we arrived. When we got to the main dining hall (many of the houses had their own dining facilities), I was shocked to find that the black students were all eating in one room and the other students in another. When I mumbled something about never seeing that before, the dean proceeded to tell us defensively that the black students had demanded their own eating facilities, as well as their own all-black dormitories.
Did they have their own drinking fountains?
A tree grows in Brooklyn.
A weed grows out of Somalia.
That’s what their flag/logo looks like.
Gawd I’m so sick of hearing about ‘racial equality’ when the one doing the screaming refuse to clean their own homes or wipe their own arses.
I still have trouble deciding whether ghetto thug culture or muzzie culture is worse.
White University students form a coalition ah?............that’s racist only blacks are allowed to do this
My goodness, the Negro Ivy Coalition, what will they think of next?
They already have equality. What they want is an advantage.
They should actually form the Coalition for Equal Responsibility so that they can begin to contribute to society the way the rest of us do. No Justice, No Peace? Fine bitches, no peace? No handouts. Hunger is a helluva a motivator. How ya like me now punk ass?
It was really amazing because Kenyans are EBONY black and American blacks are barely black: "cafe au lait." They don't KNOW "black" and really should visit Africa to see what BLACK really is. WOW, was I ever shocked.
There was an African-American couple there too, not with our guide, but THEY looked positively WHITE compared to the Keynans...and also looked confused, shocked and OUT OF PLACE. They didn't fit there any more than I did.
Also, after a few weeks there American blacks will THANK THEIR LUCKY STARS that they were born right here in the USA. Africa is a pit hole.
WELL put.
It is now time for our generation to lead the movement against injustices toward people of color in the 21st Century.
I am against injustices of blacks killing, raping, stealing, and other violent crimes against whites. How about this group try being honest?
The wussies feelings are hurt because they’re afraid someone is discriminating against them. Truth is that I would prefer being discriminated against than knowing they’re raping white women at a 100-1 ratio. Blacks commit far more violence against whites (murder, rape, assault, robbery, etc.) than whites do against them.
You grow to hate these racists clowns not because of the color of their skin but because of their hypocrisy. They’re disingenuous lying POS. If they weren’t POS, they would talk honestly about all the black violence. They don’t care about that. They’re just trying to further game the system.
Blacks make up less than 13% of the population and commit more murders and rapes and all other races combined. That is absolutely immoral and pathetic. This group should stop pretending to be honorable until they address that. Until they do, I don’t give a damn what they think.
