Coeur d'Alene City Council.
Idaho, as with most states, has a preemption statute that guarantees uniform gun laws across the state. The laws have proven to be popular in the United States. All states have some form of preemption. In New York, courts have ruled that the State handgun licensing law preempts local ordinances. The laws vary in their application by state.
The Idaho Second Amendment Alliance is pushing Idaho governments to follow the state law. Most have been doing so, at least when notified.
Coeur d'Alene seems to have less respect for the rule of law than most. From boiseweekly.com:
When the Coeur d'Alene City Council refused to overturn laws prohibiting firearms at parades and public assemblies, the Idaho Second Amendment Alliance threatened to sue, according to KTVB. A report from the Coeur d'Alene Press said the organization lacks the legal standing to file suit on its own, but members are working with an attorney to build a case. From cdapress.com; two members of the council voted to amend the ordinace.
Despite his arguments, Adams' attempt was unsuccessful. Only Adams and Councilman Dan Gookin voted to amend the ordinance.Adams is to the right of the Mayor, who is wearing a suit and tie. Gookin is to the left of the Mayor in the picture.
I would be shocked if anyone in CDA were even aware of the ordinance, much less obeys it. I certainly wasn’t. All these folks have to be re-elected at some point. Bookmarking the article for future reference.
Probably too many left wing California green whackos moved into the CDA area.
We have seen them get an early retirement from some governmental job and move to the CDA area.
It’s a problem all over the intermountain west. California libs discover how nice it is here in Idaho, for example, and then they move here and wreck the place.
Hello, liberals, YOU ARE THE REASON CALIFORNIA IS SO MESSED UP. PLEASE LEAVE THE OTHER STATES ALONE.
I say this as a 3rd generation Californian now living in Idaho.
Councilman Gookin is a California transplant, but he has been their for a couple of decades.
He wrote the “Dummies” series. They have sold nearly 200 million books. I suspect that he is very well off. He voted to get rid of the illegal local ordinance. Good for him.
their should be there

Wow!! My “Baseball for Dummies” is invaluable to me.
.
Same problem with Southwest Idaho. Ada (Boise) and Canyon (Nampa/Caldwell) counties are overrun with California imports. For the 13 years I have been in this part of Idaho I have watched them change the area for the worse. We were stationed in Colorado Springs, CO and saw what the Californication did there due to the invasion of 600,000 families in the 4 years we were stationed there. The damn liberals never learn from their mistakes this just crap the new nest just like the one they fled.
For decades I have wondered if it is a plan/strategy/tactic where left wing Californians import themselves into other states/cities throughout the west and certain states in NE and the Eastern seaboard.
After about 10 years of importing themselves into other cities and states, they and others of their ilk are controlling local governments and influencing the state government until they control everything.
I have posted before about a retired Marine who retired as a deputy sheriff. He and his wife were active Christians and decided to move to Oregon. She was a little on the Artsey side and wanted to move to Ashland or Eugene. I tried to warn them about the liberals controlling both cities. They didn’t listen and drove up to check out the two cities.
They didn’t last a day in Eugene. They got hassled about his Marine sticker on the back of their SUV and his sheriff’s sticker besides the sin of owning a SUV. They drove back down to Ashland and were insulted by their lesbian real estate bitch.
He contacted some retired Marines in Oregon and with some guidance, and they moved into a new area populated by people like them.
I’m afraid more left wing Californicators will heading to other areas with our recent boom in real estate prices. They sell their homes here at a great price and move to another state to help ruin it.
I was seriously thinking of moving to CDA for a while...
Local governments are full of people who have time on their hands and want “to make a difference”.
That is a combination just aching for liberal activism.
