Really?
It was an upscale brand marketed above Chrysler,
vs Lincoln and Cadillac for the most part, through MY 1974

The Economy Class cabin of the 747 in the 60’s is worth the price alone. It shows you how much room has been lost in the name of profits and efficiency since the ‘60’s.

They were monsters. They were actually banned in demolition derbys.

I don’t know how they managed to post a photo of a 1960 Imperial on a billboard in the fall of ‘56.
Amazing

Not the same exact hotel but, I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton on Place Vendome, hence my nom de jour.
Chopin room and I forget the name of the bar but, amazing place and service.
Lady Di and Natalie Wood. Whoo!
Timeless beauty.
When I lived in Tulsa I’d take girlfriends to Neiman Marcus and Miss Jackson and buy clothes ala Lady Di style...and a few other unmentionables...

I think the “Imperial” marque was born out of the Chrysler - Packard merger.

The only quibble I have with that picture is the first commercial flight of the 747 was in 1970. Otherwise, a great picture, you’re right about the room.

It shows you how much room has been lost in the name of profits Didn't tickets cost about twice as much back then?

I think the Imperial marque was born out of the Chrysler - Packard merger.Chrysler and Packard never merged. Packard merged with Studebaker in the late 1950s. Packards were produced for another year or two after that (actually, they were rebadged Studebakers) before the nameplate disappeared. There was a plan for a 4 way merger between Studebaker, Packard, Nash, and Hudson, but it never materialized. Nash and Hudson then merged to form American Motors.
