> The only quibble I have with that picture is the first commercial flight of the 747 was in 1970. Otherwise, a great picture, youre right about the room.
Good point. Probably a promo pic then...
The Imperial was a Chrysler-badged model from 1926 to 1955. In 1956 is was made its own line (like Plymouth or Dodge under Chrylser). Packard merged with Studebaker in the mid 1950s, and, as far as I know, was never owned by Chrysler.
Be sure not to miss the editorial comment near the bottom.
This is correct (see post # 18.) After the Studebaker - Packard merger, "new" Packards were produced for a short period of time that were really nothing more than Studebaker Hawks with a different nose. (They were sarcastically referred to as "Packabakers.") Hopefully someeone here who is more technically skilled than I am (and that could be anybody) can post a photo of one of these "Packabakers."
Wish I had one.
I’d drive it in cities where drivers are rude to each other like Jersey, Boston, etc. Those pretentious little rude liberals wouldn’t stand a chance in their mostly plastic yuppie cars.
If they cut you off or force you off the road, they get nailed with virtually not damage to this beast. Plus it would drive them crazy because a behemoth like this baby doesn’t get great gas mileage and it probably smokes by now. To make it legal, I’d get one of those antique license plates.
Honestly I was astonished
Thanks!
You are right, at first I thought it was a ‘57
But the source I linked here said it was a ‘1956’ photo,
I added the ‘fall’ because the car had MY1957 sized tail fins, I
knew the 56 Imperial was different
Guess I’ll change it on my site, thank you sir
An Imperial UTE!!!
Aussies would have loved it...
Nope, the consistency of the logo is a large part of why the Coca Cola brand is so valuable
Hey, it looks like a limo or maybe a gangster car.
Back when cars were cars and men were men. :)
heard of all but the henry j and the imperial
I enjoyed the pictures, as usual, except for the one.... I appreciate the picture of Eastwood in London, and the RoadRunner ad, the look of determination in the welder’s eyes, the strange picture of the Zep over the pyramids. The monster American cars at the hotel in France look out of place, but yet fantastic .Thanks, Reaganite Republican. And may we have a good week.
Turner’s is still there!
Had a friend who had a 68 Crown Imperial in the 80s. What a ride. I have a friend who is restoring a 1961 Convertible Imperial. They are different in many ways from other Chrysler products.
the Golden age of models I used to go to the hardware store in downtown Meridian and look at all the AMT kits with the optional customized illustrations. And dream.
