It occurs to me that dystopian literature is essentially conservative/libertarian. Dystopian literature and film are essentially a pro-liberty art form. They remind us how Big Government abuses citizens and how much better things operate in an environment of freedom.
And now you know why liberal Kurt Vonnegut went nuts. He wrote about the evils of his own political beliefs.
Actually, I think you are right. How many can you name?
Every liberal utopia consists of an all-powerful government that controls everyone and everything. Liberalism and freedom are incompatible.

The movie V for Vendetta is just an over the top caricature of the right behaving as the left does.
The movie was stupid and tiresome because there was nothing driving it other than a rabid hatred of the right. The hero was a terrorist thug who tortured and manipulated the Natalie Portman character into siding with him.

A futuristic dystopia is a safer way to criticize the government than a book outright saying “down with today’s XYZ”.
True, Hunger Games, Divergent, Minority Report come to mind for more modern movies.
Dystopian films do tend to crop up in greater numbers when people are afraid, which is why the 1970s were another big crop of American dystopain films from Zardoz to No Blade of Grass to the original Mad Max.
I need more dystopian recommendations!
I’ve read One Second after, Alas Babylon, Hunger Games, Atlas Shrugged, the Earth Abides, and a few more no names.
Any good suggestions?
