Pope Francis: Man is Center of Universe
July 17, 2014 | Paul Melanson

Posted on 07/17/2014 7:39:22 AM PDT by cleghornboy

Pope Francis has thanked those who seek to,"..recover man[kind], restoring him to the centre of reflection and the centre of life. 'He is the king of the universe'! he exclaimed. 'And this is not theology, it is philosophy and human reality.'" (See here).

Does Pope Francis really mean to convey that theology has nothing to do with "human reality." As I have said so many times before, the retreat from truth is necessary before the reign of Antichrist. See here for example. There is a preparation. Many are "intellectualizing" themselves into dissent and apostasy from the true Faith. The battlefield is in the mind. The attack is intellectual and psychological. Sin must be justified so that a new religion can turn vices into gods.

What is this but a form of insanity? In the words of the late (great) F.J. Sheed: "..if we see anything - ourself or some other man, or the Universe as a whole or any part of it - without at the same time seeing God holding it there, then we are seeing it all wrong. If we saw a coat hanging on a wall and did not realize that it was held there by a hook, we should not be living in the real world at all, but in some fantastic world of our own in which coats defied the law of gravity and hung on walls by their own power. Similarly if we see things in existence and do not in the same act see that they are held in existence by God, then equally we are living in a fantastic world, not the real world. Seeing God everywhere and all things upheld by Him is not a matter of sanctity; but of plain sanity, because God is everywhere and all things are upheld..

Sounds like a pretty good paraphrasing of the serpent’s conversation with Eve.

I thought Christ was the center and the king. Every day this Pope jumps the shark.

Viva Cristo Rey!

Anyone who thinks man is king of the universe is practicing and preaching something other than orthodox Catholicism. Yes, man is the pinnacle of God’s creation but man is not and never will be “king” of the universe.

My guess is he meant “pinnacle of creation” or something to that effect and misspoke. I want to believe he was just sloppy and it doesn’t mean a profound misunderstanding on his part. He is the pope after all.

Bad translation? (gosh, I hope so)

I wouldn’t read too much into his choice of words.

Based on the truncated quote by the poster and taken alone, it reads to me that the center-of- reflection and the center-of-life IS the King of the universe (whom we know as our trinitarian God). No?

Well, consider this:

According to Fr. Bernd Hagenkord SJ, Head of the German-language Section of Vatican Radio:

“Francis knows exactly how power is spelled.”

“He’s a communicator in the league with Mother Teresa and the Dalai Lama. They say he’s being unclear, but we know exactly what he means.”

Note to Pope Francis:
1. God created Man (male and female) in His image hand gave them dominion over the Earth.
2. But Man was a flawed being and fell from His grace due to Satan's lies.
3. God sent his son to die for Man's sins so that Man could be redeemed.
4. Because Man is flawed (see original sin), he cannot be perfect nor achieve perfection. Man can never become the center of the universe because that substitutes Man for God.

I am not a Catholic, but Pope Francis is really beginning to OFFEND me by his humanistic, socialist dreck. I think Pope Benedict needs to make a comeback.

I am revealed now as a block head, but remain confused in regard to your answer, as I am unfamiliar with Hagenkord and see no connection whatsoever with his description of ambiguously speaking Francis and plain, unambiguous Mother Theresa.

I guess you are suggesting I have to read the danged article. :)

I was deliberately trying to avoid reading more from our indecipherable pope, whom I hope is upon occasion at least, clear or correct about something. It is sorrowfully difficult for me to contend with what is happening. Thx, Rita

The pope needs to resign and go to one of those nutty atheist “churches”...or run for senator in Nevada or California so that he can be with his kind.

He is the pope after all.

A "sloppy" pope? OK...but I think he thinks that Jesus was a socialist, like the pope is.

I didn't leave the RC Curch, the RC Church left me...years ago.

we - who we are as persons, and who we are collectively, are never, even at our best, any more than and only possibly, some mere point of reflection of the center of the Universe - G-d, IF G-d is shining through us, and that is only and always dependent on our relationship with the center of the Universe - G-d, and NOT by virtue of our mere existence

let’s hope what was reported is another “misinterpretation” of something the Roman Catholic Pope said
