Theres no better wisdom than received wisdom. And when it comes to parroting things shes heard from people she believes to be smarter than her which doesnt really narrow it down Lena Dunham is tops.
Take it away, genius!

Women's access to birth control should not be denied
because of their employer's religious beliefs.

This is true, in theory. Its also irrelevant, because thats not what just happened.
Lena Dunham is very stupid, but perhaps this analogy might find its way through that geologically thick skull:
Sean Davis @seanmdav
I'm kind of hungry for lunch, but my employer doesn't
buy my lunch for me. It gives me cash to buy food.
Which means I'm going to starve.

Do you get what hes saying here, Lena? An employer gives money to its employees for the work they do. Those employees can then spend that money on the things they want and need. Including, for the purposes of this example, birth control. These employees access to birth control has not been denied in any way. On the contrary, they can buy as much of it as they can afford, if they so choose.
Access not denied. At all.
This is just another moronic cause célèbre, like the Chick-fil-A nonsense. Lets just hope this one doesnt inspire another gunman to take matters into his own hands, like Floyd Lee Corkins tried to do. Thatd be the first Hobby Lobby story the media wouldnt want to cover.

Update: Awwww, dayum.

I think they realize that they are being deceptive, and they don’t care - the agenda uber alles.
Lena Dunham, is she one of Jeff Dunham’s Dummies or related to Barrack Dunham-Obama?
With less brains than Jeff’s dummies, she has to be related to Zero!
Poor thing, it’s tough being stupid.

That is a very GOOD point.
“Life is hard, but it’s harder when you’re stupid.” — John Wayne.
Let’s all remember that all of this, all of it (health care costs out of control, an entitlement mentality when it comes to health insurance, widespread use of health insurance itself) all of it... Started when employers started offering compensation “packages” which included “benefits” instead of salaried/hourly wages. And why did this occur?
Why did employers start offering “packages” of compensation instead of just lump sum money given to an employee, that said employee could and would do anything he wanted with said money?
Because of taxes of course! More than 50 years ago now, there was a quiet, nearly forgotten huge increase on earned income, BUT, this would be off-set if such compensation was in the form of other things other than actual money. So employees early on were motivated to look for jobs that offered these packages, instead of just money, to avoid higher taxes.
Now it’s ballooned out of control. With people now perversely associating their workplace with some kind of charity, that is morally obligated to help those under it’s “care”. When this was never the reason health insurance packages were offered at the workplace to begin with!!
Here’s an idea: use your OWN money to buy the contraception you “need” (Becaise you evidently can’t keep it zippered up for more than a day).
Or better yet, everyone should just demand employers stop with these compensation “packages”, and demand the government drop the decades old tax rates that prohibit (financially) lump sum compensation.
Give me all the money I’m due for the work and let the market decide health care costs. Not shiester lawers. Not corporate health “care”’companies. Let ME and MY DOCTOR negotiate the price like human beings should be able to do, man to man!
When the government doesn’t step in first. With it’s lackey the tax man. This can (and actually has) worked in the past.
We are all aware that in fact, if you receive health care benefits at work, your actual salary is much higher than what you actually see on your paycheck right?
That if, for example, you’re making $50k now, you’re actually making close to 70k, but you never see that other 20k, becaise it’s going to pay for exorbitantly high health care premiums.
We are all aware of that right?
It’s that high because the health insurance company will “take” anyone the employer will hire, even if that person has a pre-existing condition. While it might not cover that exact condition it will still cover other costs possibly associated. Which drives up the cost of the premium the employer pays “for” us. (Really our money due after work, but paid for as a benefit so we don’t bump up into a higher tax bracket)
That was the original intent anyway for the “benefits package”. But now it’s past it’s time. The only way to make it work though is to demand lower taxes significantly. And tort reform for health care.
But this will never happen, given all the special interests in Washington.
