Do your politics line up with your drink of choice? To answer this question we looked to GFK MRI survey data to profile over 50 major brands of wine and spirits according to voter registration and turnout history. The findings are summarized in the following bubble chart Politics of Wine & Liquor Brands.
The chart shows that Democratic drinkers are more likely to sip clear liquors like Absolut while Republicans prefers darker drinks like Jim Beam. And, perhaps not surprisingly, people who take shots of Jagermeister or Don Julio are much less likely to vote.

Say what? Republicans drink Johnny Walker Black and Red, Jack Daniels, Crown Royal, Seagram’s VO, Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark and Canadian Club. I’m shocked, just shocked. I love all of them!
On the other hand, I am distressed to see Chivas Regal, Seagram’s 7 Crown, and Canadian Mist on the blue side.
Are those names Old White Guys?

Not too surprising...Grey Goose and Absolut are mainstays of “girlie drinks” preferred by schoolteachers and social workers.
Red/Blue usually aligns a bit like male/female.
I don’t know about democrats or republicans but I’m a Tea Party Conservative and all I drink are small batch bourbons (Knob Creek, Bookers, Jim Beam Single Barrel, etc.)
