Latino American Citizens Hardest Hit by Illegal Immigration

illegal immigration

On a brisk January morning in East Oakland, California Sonia Cerna held the hands of her 11 year-old son Juan and his little-sister Ana on their way to school. As they crossed the intersection, a 1967 Ford Mustang barreled down the street with reckless abandon, plowing into five-year old Ana and Juan as well as other children, barely missing Sonia. Young Juan suffered a broken leg but was more fortunate that his baby sister, who died the following day of her injuries. Ana is but one of a growing list of crime victims who are both Latino and American citizens, whose are among the hardest hit by a surge of crimes and economic competition as a result of illegal immigration.

Ana's killer was Osvaldo Urzua, an illegal immigrant who took the Mustang without permission from the auto body shop where he worked. The cowardly Urzua fled the scene of the tragedy, later to be apprehended by police. Upon arrest, he indicated that he was more concerned of what might happen to him because he was an illegal alien, than what he had done to the children. Tom Vandemark, of the Oakland Pedestrian Safety Project, summed up the drivers feeling, "He was totally terrified about what might happen to him because he was an undocumented alien."

illegal immigrationMore than 1,000 local residents attended the funeral of Ana Cerna, in which Father Marco Antonio Figueroa likened her to a little dove, "she is like a white dove that flies into the presence of God. She is not flying by herself," he said as he attempted to ease the pain of the mourners, "all of us fly with her." Cases like that of Urzua have made California the hit and run capital of the nation, due to its high percentage of illegal immigrants. Drivers flee the scene in roughly eight percent of all crashes that result in a fatality, compared to less than four percent across the country.

The tragedy that beset the Cerna family is becoming an all too common problem within Latino communities across the country. While left wing Hispanic groups and their allies within the Democratic Party press for amnesty and liberalized immigration laws, little thought is given to the impact the rush of illegal aliens is having in the country as a whole and in particular the Latino community.

"Groups like La Raza Unida (the Race United), MECha (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán translated as Chicano student movement of Aztlan) and the Democrats use what can be described as nothing less than racism to entice Latinos to support their immigration goals," states Robert Guzman, 28 of Los Angeles. Guzman, who grew up in Cudahy, a small community just outside downtown LA says he has seen this consistently since childhood. "Its absolute racism. They constantly talk about "brown pride" and increasing the population of Latinos to overtake the power of the "Anglos." He went on to say that they so-called multicultural harmony and common-cause often expressed by the Progressive left is much a sham. "On one hand they talk about black and brown needing to pull together to make a better tomorrow for minorities," Guzman states while becoming visibly agitated, "then they will turn around and whisper how barbaric the mayates (derogatory term for black Americans used in Latino communities) are and how we need to push them out as well. It's disgusting."

Guzman also noted that while there are of course home-grown criminals and gangsters in the Latino community, it has been the "illegals" that have are more active and often more violent. "When I was coming up, we had cholo's and the neighborhood home boys, I remember 18th Street gang being talked about a lot, but nowadays its Maravilla gangs, like Varrio Longos 13 and others that call the shots and they are far more dangerous and reckless than the knuckleheads I can remember when I was a kid."

illegal immigration Tony Hoera, holding a picture of his daughter Vinessa, brutally murdered by an illegal alien.

While Californians have been particularly hard hit, they are certainly not alone in becoming victims to crimes perpetuated by illegal immigrants with a disregard for the laws of our nation. Vinessa Hoera was a 23 year-old single mother of her son, Xaviah (five at the time) living in the Westhampton Beach area of Long Island, NY. She left work one Friday night to pick up her son and was never seen again. The next day her car was found in flames, although she was not inside. It was not until a month later that her decomposing body was found in the woods on the outskirts of Westhampton. Autopsy reports detailed that her body was severely beaten and badly bruised and her throat slashed from ear to ear.

Following an intense investigation, illegal immigrant Faustino Chavez of Guatemala was arrested and confessed to the killings. Apparently Hoera had resisted his romantic advances toward her and Chavez used this as justification to savagely end her life and make five year-old Xaviah an orphan. Her parents have continued to struggle with the loss and the brutality of her demise. "I'm in shock. I'm sick, "lamented her mother, Donna Hoera, "I didn't know a lot of what they said, couldn't believe much of what they said. She was on the up," describing the progress she was making in life, "she was a single mom, but just bought a new car. She was a life lover, a very positive person." Chavez was sentenced to 22 years in prison, at which time he will (presumably) be deported back to his native Guatemala. For her father, Tony, no punishment would be too great. "I hope he never gets out," he said in tears, "he deserves whatever he gets. Let him suffer."

In addition to the increased victimization American Latinos are subjected to due to crimes of illegal immigration, the economic and environmental impact is negatively affecting this community more than any others. While the Democratic Party continues to present itself as defenders of the Latino community and their interest, evidence of this is hard to come by. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rates for younger Latinos is disproportionately higher than the national average, particularly among lower-income Hispanics. Many experts cite the influx of illegal immigrant labor as a significant factor, as many entry level and lower skilled jobs which are traditionally filled by younger workers as they enter the work force and build upon these jobs for their futures are being taken up by illegal labor. In many Latino neighborhoods, double-parked cars line the crumbling streets, with trash cans overflowing as capacity in many areas is 300 percent that which they were designed for, due to illegal immigrants.

Guzman states he has seen this in action and is the cause for so many of his friends spending their days playing video games or worse, on the streets. "I get so fed up with Democrats running around telling us how 'down for the brown' they are, just because they support amnesty for illegals," voicing his frustration at the Democratic Party talking points to the Latino American community, who he sees as being hardest hit by the problems of illegal immigration, "I was born here and my father came here when he was 20...legally!"

Illegal immigration isn’t good for any American’s except for Democrat politicians and crony capitalism.

Honest capitalism abhors it. Many native born Hispanics despise it too.

I have wondered for many years why legal residents with Mexican ancestry are welcoming these millions of illegals.

That illegal who just got here? He ain’t taking my job. Instead he’s taking the job away from second and third generation Hispanics who are struggling to find that piece of the American Pie.

I’ve seen a few of the Dignitas articles posted here and they are well written and solid.

I am impressed.

I do then want to provide constructive criticism in that the articles should be more thoroughly proof read.

There were at least two mistakes.

If the overall quality were not so good, this criticism would not be relevant.

But the small mistakes detract from the excellence of the articles.

Exactly, and basically telling each and every immigrant that went through the legal process, that dealt with the paperwork, the costs, the time that they are suckers to do things the proper way.

Those bus drivers need to see big maps showing the way to Central America at those protests.

Here are three. The first one is worst because it comes early and is jarring.

Latino and American citizens, whose are among the hardest hit by a surge...

Should be “who are”

Oakland Pedestrian Safety Project, summed up the drivers feeling...

Should be “driver’s feeling”

He went on to say that they so-called multicultural...

Should be “the so-called”

When I see pics of this POS, I pray daily for his demise in any way it can be accomplished. I want to shove those horse teeth down his throat.
