What Exactly Do People Think #BringBackOurGirls Will Accomplish?
Pundit Press ^ | 5/12/14 | Aurelius

For years, the terrorist organization Boko Haram has been murdering people throughout Nigeria. Last year in July they killed 42 children in an attack on a school. Two months later, they murdered another 40 people at a college. Hundreds have been massacred by these disgusting excuses for human beings for years.

Today, and for the past few weeks, the Twitter "hashtag" #bringbackourgirls has been sweeping the site. Just a simple Twitter search of it will turn up thousands of tweets saying the same thing.

Possibly the most famous of these tweets was First Lady Michelle Obama tweeting out a picture of herself frowning, holding a card that reads, "#BringBackOurGirls:" Michelle Obama Bring Back Our Girls

But what exactly do people think such things will accomplish? Are they aware that simply writing on Twitter will not physically remove girls from the grasp of Boko Haram and deliver them safely home?

Boko Haram will not be checking how many "re-tweets" Michelle Obama will get and, if she eclipses a certain number, they will release their captives. Boko Haram does not care that several thousand Twitter users in San Francisco wrote "#bringbackourgirls." None of these people will physically do anything to force this terrorist organization to actually do anything at all. In fact, it's more than likely that Boko Haram hasn't even heard of this campaign.

Years ago, "KONY2012" took Twitter by storm. And what has happened because of all of those tweets?

The whole point is for liberals to feel good about themselves.

This is the primary purpose of all their “issues”.

Right now, according to the most recent Wiki entry, Nigeria has an army of about 100,000 troops plus a substantial quantity of heavy weapons and equipment. Indeed, it has been more than large and well equipped enough to participate in a number of extra-territorial peace keeping missions over the last 30 years. In that time, the US has contributed a substantial amount of military and civilian aid to Nigeria.

All of this inevitably leads to the question: “Why hasn’t this exceptionally large army, that has no actual or seriously potential enemy nation to be deployed against, been deployed, in whatever numbers may be necessary, to exterminate the Islamist terrorists?” Indeed, the follow up would be, “Why hasn’t the US government pressured the Nigerian government to use that huge army to wipe out the Islamists?”

The logical answer to all of this is we have an Islamist terrorist sympathizer and enabler as POTUS, a man who, hating America, Americans, and Christianity, as much as he does, is loathe to do anything that will seriously injure any large Islamist movement, no matter what horrors and atrocities that movement commits. Tt also means there is no legitimate, present reason for the lives of US military personnel to be squandered on the ground in that cesspit of a country wile the present Regime is in power.

But this is not the time or the place for us to be wasting our blood and treasure when there are many Countries in Africa that could do the job if they wanted to.

Especially Nigeria, since it right now has a reasonably well-equipped army of about 100,000 men that's currently doing just about nothing. Little or no reason, given that, for the US to sacrifice its military in that cesspit.

Exactly. Women should be quiet if they can’t handle what men must do to take care of business!! Let the men handle it as men were made to do and America will be safe once again!

On a totally unrelated note...have u seen the latest Lowes commercial? A metrosexual/homosexual dancing/prancing thru the store!!! It is being played here in Oklahoma. I can guarantee u I have never seen a man like that at my local Lowes! But it shows what the terrorist think they r up against.

It will make people look in a different direction rather than concentrating on the emerging information that shows how this government was despicably complicit in the murders of Americans in Benghazi and then tried to cover it up.

I’m sure she’s just appealing to the hearts and minds of the misunderstood radical Islamists. Once they see her and all those tweeting they’ll, surely, have a change of heart...because ultimately they have legitimate issues and are good people.

I agree, this is pathetic. Where were these people when all the other atrocities were happening? ...they only care because it’s girls.

My greatest fear in life; someone hurling a hashtag at me.

Oh the humanity!

They want to show and impress other people that they have feelings and that they care. Also, it makes them feel good inside to show others that they care. Its all about feeeeeelings

Surprised no one noticed the real backstory.

The BHs have terrorist members imprisoned. BH supporter Obama wants his soulmates freed, so this prisoner exchange will blunt criticism of US to free terrorists.

Kind of a repeat of the failed prisoner exchange at Benghazi, where the intent was to free the blind sheik.
