Some time ago there was an article that compared our debt to the total assets of the rich. It wrote that if everything of the rich were seized by the Feds and the war debt was zero, the Democrats would still have us in the hole.
After thirty minutes of surfing, I hope a FRiend has the information at the ready.
Can anybody point me in the right direction?
the problem has never been taxing the rich
the problem is, and always has been, creating mountains of debt with no hope of paying it.
the mooching class needs to be shut down
Libs are stupid when it comes to the term “rich”. In their little minds when they think of someone as rich, they think only of someone with millions of dollars in a bank. That person is usually thought of as fat, ugly, a nazi like person. Nothing else is involved in what defines that person as rich except actual dollar bills.
Here’s one

Here’s another

I thought for sure I had saved an article to that effect, having read a better one than those above, but I can’t find it.
For what it’s worth, my search terms were simply:
national debt confiscate rich
E posted some good links, too but, unfortunately, none are the article ‘I’ am thinking of.
I’ll try to jog my memory.
This is closer to what I was recalling and, frankly, the timeframe indicates American Thinker might be a good place for you to search.

Bottom line is always: The Middle Class will be looted. That’s the only place where sufficient funds can be found — the rich aren’t rich enough to fund the utopian schemes of the do-gooders.
Bill Whittle did a video on it a few years ago.
Don’t have a reference to it handy.
There were 403 billionaires in the US, with a total net worth of just over $1.3 trillion. Which was about 1 years deficit.
You could go to Forbes and do the same thing today.
Bump
Reagan pointed us in the right direction with this observation.
We don't have a trillion-dollar debt because we haven't taxed enough; we have a trillion-dollar debt because we spend too much
Thanks everybody!
Bingo, that was the one that I was looking for; I’m a big Bill Fan.
No prob. I never did find the article I was thinking of. I know how frustrating that is and understand your post (I’d have done the same). My OCD kicked in and tried to find it, but to no avail...had to cut the search short.
If you find one better than the ones I saw linked to, or settle on one better than most, I’d appreciate it if you shared. Thanks in advance!
