Those abandoning Bundy should not jump the gun on this issue.

context is everything! WIthout context the framing of the written or spoken word is in the hands of “he”: who does the presentation.

Thank you.

You can always count of the LSM to twist words and take them out of context in order to smear someone they don’t like. He ought to sue them for libel.

Regardless of whether he did or didn’t make such comments, what do they have to do with the land issue?

It’s like when corrupt figures in the government started leaking “Joe the Plumber’s” financial history and infractions to discredit him after he was mentioned in the 2008 debate. It was Mr. Obama who said “it’d be better if we spread the wealth around” and that was the issue at hand.

Bundy seems to think liberal, big-government policies are disgusting in all contexts, and it’s hard to argue with him on that conclusion.

Context really doesn’t matter for comments like that in most people’s minds. since it was pretty bad. Sure, to us, but I am sorry, he should have been more careful with what he said. Most will not care.

I’m not giving up on Bundy. The only thing he did wrong was to use the word “negro,” which is considered wrong these days, although it’s the word we all grew up with, and back then it was the preferred word. Martin Luther King had no problems with it.

What he said was devastatingly true. LBJ and the Democrats put blacks on the Democrat Plantation, by destroying their families and cutting the rug under their opportunities to work. By giving them welfare for having children out of wedlock. And so forth. It’s all true, and it was done deliberately.

And those “range fees” owed to the BLM? That’s nothing but pork demanded for giving ranchers environmental advice when they don’t know a damned thing about the environment they’re supposedly supervising. “Get your damned cows off our land, so we can euthanize the turtles and put up subsidized solar power cells to pay off Harry Reid and his son!”

He’s supposed to pay them an annual fee for that kind of advice? He knows a hell of a lot more about that land then any of those useless, bullying bureaucrats.

Those abandoning Bundy...

My hypothesis is that those that abandoned Bundy are fake constitutional conservatives, looking for any excuse at all to side with their DC buddies about Reid's sleazy land deals, and yet still get elected. Mygosh, look how fast Rand Paul and Shawn Hannity got on board the DC train on this issue.

Bundy did something beyond what anyone would expect a person to do in these circumstances, much more than those ranchers who decided to give up rather than fight the feds. He's not trained in dealing with a hostile media out to get him. What average person leverages everything they say so it can't be taken out of context?

I wonder if what he said is much different than what MLK said to blacks, many decades after slavery was abolished. Is it any different than Ceasar Chavez demanding US wages for Mexican workers who were being exploited and unable to move ahead to more independent lives?

The "constitutional conservatives" have been very, very disappointing in the whole situation. Very few had the instincts to immediately support citizen's rights to the land in these fast-moving events. Too many of them (I suspect looking for a "way out" from having to defend Bundy and anger Reid) quickly condemned Bundy instead of actually reading and hearing what he had to say, which is a consistnat message for US citizens to take back their lives and not be slaves to the government.

I'm very discouraged that we don't have much of a real voice in DC.

Liberals, Democrats and RINO’s couldn't wait to play the race card. It still proves the axiom that those that play the race card have lost the argument and are using a ridiculous premise to further their agenda.

There is absolutely no doubt that the traditional media is a propaganda arm of the Democrat Party, aka the government party. It has been proven many, many times that the media will edit any interview in a way that will be most damning to conservatives. They are not reporters, and they do not report the truth!

It doesn’t even matter whether or not they think they’re propagandists. Maybe they even think they’re fairly reporting the facts. After all, Mr. Bundy said what he said, except the media is hopelessly blinded by their own pro-left ideology even if they individually try to be fair. It would take an exceptional person to be able to properly put things into context, and frankly, most journalists are not very exceptional.

The important question is what can we conservatives do about it? We are not going to receive equal treatment in an agenda filled media. If one of our people makes a less than perfectly scripted comment, the media will attack ruthlessly. Whereas, someone on the left can make much more damning statements, but they will be presented in the most favorable sense by the media who see their “reporting” not as a means of presenting truth but as a means to fix society.

The bottom line? Conservatives really need to be prepared for the media onslaught. We’ve had several cases where decent candidates have made some foolishly naive interviews and comments to the media. Doesn’t anyone really think someone like Todd Akin would have been worse than a Democrat, regardless of Akin’s medically incorrect views about conception after rape? Does anyone really believe Akin was waging or wanted to wage a war on women? Laughable, but that was the media’s meme, and it doesn’t matter if someone like Biden says equally ill informed stuff on a daily basis.

So, we need to get a lot smarter about how to craft our message.

So what? The feral government can communistically seize his herds and livelihood because now he’s judged a racist?

Harry Reid be waciss too. Confiscate his land and property. Oh, yeah. He’s a democrat. He can play that card anytime.

Sadly a lot of people have taken their eye off the ball. The issue is not Bundy’s views on race or anything else. The issue is whether a weaponized BLM should have the power to do what they did. And they should not.

The notion that blacks are worse off now than in the 1960s or the immediate post-WWII years has been claimed by many black leaders over the years, and I culled several examples in just a few minutes of googling. I also found examples of black leaders saying that blacks are now worse off in South Africa than they were under apartheid. One does not have to necessarily agree with these comments to understand the point, and the point is NOT that slavery and apartheid should be restored or civil rights laws abolished. That was NOT Bundy’s point, and it is obviously not the point when black leaders point out current problems in the black community.
