Kerry Courts Manila Government: Philippines To Become The 51st U.S. State?
The Adobo Chronicles Blog ^ | December 17, 2013

Manila, Philippines - It’s all about oil. U.S. interest seems to be shifting from the Middle East to Asia, particularly the oil-rich waters surrounding the Philippines, China, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. Tension has been rising among and between the governments of these countries over territorial claims in around South China Sea and the Spratly Islands.

Overtly, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is in the Philippines to try to ease tensions between the Manila and Beijing governments, urging China to go easy on imposing no-fly and no-sail zones over the disputed territories between the two countries.

Covertly, as confirmed by latest tweets from suspected American security secrets leaker Edward Snowden, Kerry is in Manila talking up the Aquino government to seriously consider becoming the 51st state of the U.S. Kerry said that becoming a U.S. state would be in the best interest of the Philippines because it would essentially put the American military at its disposal in its dispute with China. Of course, what Kerry is not saying is that it would grant the U.S. full access to the area’s rich oil resources.

The Filipino sentiment against American colonialism has significantly changed since the U.S. military bases were practically driven out of the Philippines in the early 1990′s. There is a growing displeasure with the Manila government. Filipinos are fed up with political dynasties, incompetence, corruption and all that kind of stuff.

Is it time to add another star to the stars and stripes?

51st State? The Philippines?

Well, if it happens I might consider moving there. Red State, I’d predict.

The public safety net would immediately collapse.

Anyone who's been there knows what I'm talking about.

Would not be such a good switch for them then. On the other hand we will need something to replace California after it is given to Mexico.

I can already hear the cries of the left: American imperialism!!

I support it. And while we’re at it, why not cut to the chase with Puerto Rico and annex them as well?

What about Guam?

They have been Part of America for over 100 years! or Saipan, CNMI practically through themselves into the Union in the 70's

They didn't want to go the way of the Fillpino's

Hell American Samoans ain't even citizens yet, We need to take care of our own before we go off annexing other people.

I sure do. You bet I do. One look at the people living at the Manila City dump “Smoke Mountain” would be enough for most Americans to reject the idea of a new 51st state,

... But on the other hand, I could sell my house for what it’s worth, move to the Philippines, and my wife and I could live like Magnum P.I. on a private strand of beach that would put Hawaii to shame.

It would also surge the NRA membership rolls by about 10 million new members almost overnight. Moreover, if the Philippines became a 51st state, about 25% of Filipinos would move to California’s SF Bay Area within a week and probably turn California into a red state before the liberals even knew what happened.

Hello, bark, bark, brothers and sisters of the manger. Imagine that - the Philippines may become the 51st state. Barack Hussein Obama will OWN the Philippines - IRS forms, everyone in the Philippines on Obamacare, oh, the glory of it all - lucky Filipinos, all citizens of the US - fantastic - wonderful news - glory, hallelujah!

2 Senators and 128 House Members - I don’t think so.

I am not opposed to Guam or anyone else that would do us good. I just didn’t think of them when I posted.

LOL. Yes, it would change the makeup of the US House of Representatives like nothing anyone was prepared for.

Quite right. Never happen. Oh well, I guess I will kiss that beach house dream goodbye.

A trusted friend just visited there. He said it sucked. Poverty chaos. That’s the best info that I have. I probably won’t go there.

I might agree if we could leave Mindanao out. Don’t need any more of those types here.

2 more Democrat senators and a bonanza of welfare ready people is quite sufficient for Washington to want to add the Phillipines as a 51st province.

I have great respect and appreciation for the people, and many of the cultures of the people of the Philippines. I have hopes and prayers that the Gospel of Jesus Christ will flood into the country and people will be saved.

However, the southern islands and southern parts of the large islands are controlled by Muslim paramilitary armies. What could we do to protect American citizens in those cases? We can't send in armed forces because of the doctrine of posse comitatus.

This problem alone leads to believe that it would be a grave error to bring the Philippines into the Union.
