Hmmm. Are the Asian students treated similarly?
Then it can’t beez raysis.
I quit; I’m no longer going to care anymore and I’m going to train myself to stop feeling sorry for them. I give up.
I think that before every NCAA football and basketball game, the players should be required to read a few paragraphs from the newspaper. If they can’t read it, they don’t play!!
They hate “White” culture and don’t think they should be made to learn anything about it.
They want to continue to wallow in self-pity and blame Whitey for their self-inflicted pathologies.
They want jobs in spite of their lousy English.
Too stupid to know that they are stupid.
They are much smarter than I was when I entered university.
They are bi-lingual, I was not.
Where are you Carl Jefferson?
I’m hoping you are a now not just a Bruin but a Freeper as well and will read and respond to this foolishness flowing from your Alma Mater.
What difference does it make? (To quote the smartest grifter-wench in the world.)
After all, what sane HR person hires a UCLA grad anyway?
(Excluding the STEM departments, of course.)
"Chump don't want no help, chump don't get no help."
If they can’t even use rudimentary grammar correctly, they’re certainly not ready for university studies and should be dismissed “without prejudice” from UCLA (which was once known for being a pretty good college).
There are a thousand high school continuation programs in California, plus 120 community colleges where they go take some remedial English courses. They don’t have to be, should not be... occupying seats at the University, seats which could, should go to people who ARE prepared for university level studies. (Note that, other than these exceptions, only the top-ranked students are even considered for admission to UC....there are thousands of rejected applicants who’d love (and who are ready) for the opportunity to attend UCLA...but for all these seats being taken up by folks who are obviously NOT prepared to be there.)
I have a friend who is a professor in Queens College in NY, he asked me to read several essays from his students. These kids should never have made it to high school, never mind college.
"Social Justice Education is an interdisciplinary concentration of study with a focus on social diversity and social justice as they apply to formal and non-formal [sic] educational systems. It uses and generates research and theory to understand the sociocultural and historical contexts and dynamics of specific manifestations of oppression (e.g., ableism, classism, heterosexism, racism, religious oppression, transgender oppression and sexism) in social systems...
I bet if you axed ‘em they could tell where the closest Licka store is.
Then, you'll never have to know WHY you didn't get the job.
George Orwell wrote that if you can control the language you can control thinking. I’m going to make a leap of logic and guess that whatever passes for ebonics today would be inadequate for a discussion of Plato, a lesson on magneto hydrodynamics or surgical rounds.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Just hand these “students” diplomas from “ULCA.” They’ll never notice the difference and it will give the real world a tip-off about the literacy of their job applicants.
It's not that they don't know they don't meet the standards of knowing proper grammar, spelling, etc.
They are saying that it is racist that STANDARDS EXIST which they are EXPECTED TO MEET.
This is the end-game of affirmative action: that the entire concept of standards of competence disadvantages them, and therefore are, by definition, racist. They should just get a paycheck, and the employer and co-workers should shut up and not dare comment upon the quality of their work.
