NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo |
I’ve held off writing about this because it is so over the top in terms of acceptable behavior from an elected official that I decided to give it a bit of time to jell. I wanted to allow Governor Cuomo a chance to issue a press release saying, I was suffering from gastroenteritis/drunk/grief-stricken-because-my-dog-had-died at the time and said things that in no way represent what I truly think. Nothing that carries the flat-out I-did-not-mean-it apology which I think is required for such outrageous comments from an elected official has ensued.
Rep. Hamilton
It appears that not just the Governor, but the mayor of New York (or, as we call it where I’m from, New York City) are standing pat. They may not agree on much else, but they agree “100%” that people who think differently from them on a whole range of issues are not welcome in New York.
This isn’t about pro life vs pro abortion. It’s not about gun control vs the Second Amendment. It’s also not about gay vs traditional marriage. It’s about two elected officials who, from all evidence, have totally lost their sense of what elective office means. Both the Governor and the attaboy mayor following in his footsteps have taken on attitudes and ideas that are antithetical to what public service in the form of elective office entails.
When you’re elected to office, you represent everyone in the area that elected you. That means, Mr Governor and Mr Mayor, even those who oppose gun control, gay marriage and abortion. You are their governor and their mayor just the same as you are the mayor or governor for your pals and cronies who blow smoke up your skirts and tell you what a “statesman” you are for kicking everyone else to the curb.
It doesn’t matter if you agree with your constituents. It doesn’t matter if they agree with you. It certainly doesn’t matter if they like you or not. They can call you names and drive you nuts with weird accusations and oddball demands all they want. The office you occupy belongs to them. Not you.
Governor Cuomo occupies the office of Governor of New York. But the office belongs to the people of New York.
By the people of New York, I mean all of them, including those that the Governor and his mayoral echo say “don’t belong” in their fair state and city.
Last time Bush ran, a million more voted for him in CA, than in Texas....
You gotta lot to learn mom.
That's EXACTLY the situation in NY.
Look at a red/blue country by county election map and that is exactly what you'll see.
Well, you were told wrong
I was being facetious mom... See 41.
OH? You mean conservatives in other states wouldn’t want other conservatives to join them?
Thanks for all your efforts here. I am from WNY originally and am now in CNY.
I am well aware of the level of corruption that exists in WNY and has for decades and know that there are good solid people who are fighting for it.
I, for one, was disappointed that Paladino never made it as governor. I firmly believe that he could have cleaned up a lot.
Why? DO you think massive traffic, crowded conditions, and large population centers are the key to happiness and success?
You think only conservatives move in?
Don't take some of these people seriously. I've see it all here, including those who wish for death and destruction of entire states because they don't like libs..I've seen comments right here where some blame every evil in America on places like CA, etc....What they don't realize is most people live where they live for income, business, family etc, etc., and picking up and moving to where they live, just to make them happy, is not an option for numerous reasons...
Not only that, those who run will likely run again when things don't go their way...These are not the type of people you'd want in a foxhole or to make a stand.
Well we are pushing the rinos over the cliff right now and they are pulling everything out against us. If we have to we will take the GOPe down in this state. ALL of the leadership and I mean ALL, have sold their soul to Cuomo and told us to go to hell.
I’m here for the fight for a while yet and refuse to roll over.
Oklahoma is OK -
Thank you, Mayor, for your insightful postings to this thread. Indeed, the majority of us NY conservatives cannot simply pack our bags and leave.
If we have to we will take the GOPe down in this state.
Perhaps we can organize a FR group and coordinate these efforts. metmom, you have the beginnings of a ping list ... would you be willing to take on this role? Please add me to your NY ping list. You can also create a "signature notification" that reads something like this: NY Conservative Ping List. Please freepmail me to be added/removed to this list. In so doing, you can grow the list and those of us who find a newsworthy article can contact you for a list ping.
I am a native New Yorker and have no intentions of relocating outside the state. Mayor, you are in Buffalo; I am in the Capital Region. Perhaps we can formulate a plan to target the RINOs and make a difference in our state.
Mayor DeBlabio and Gov Blowmo are just a couplea Loony Tunes that found their inner moron, thanks to Boobamba. The "political vision" of these progressive jerks extends from A all the way to B.
====================================================
De Blabio Says Mayors Will Unite to Force Washingtons Hand on Progressive Causes: translation: If Hillary doesn't run, DeBlabio will convert his 73% mayoral win into a run for the WH.
De Blabio's got 73% win tattooed on his chest, painted on his bedroom ceiling, and laser-engraved on his wife's behind.
His wife has to count out 73 corn flakes in his cereal bowl and use only 7.3% milk. His speech-writers give him speeches w/ 73 words and De Blabio carries only 73 cents in his pocket.
Those I have pinged are some who I know are NYers but it isn’t an official NY ping list.
I would be willing to start one to keep tabs on what’s going on in various parts of the state.
So, if anyone wants to be on NY Conservative Ping list, let me know. preferably by FReepmauil. Requests send to me on the forum tend to get buried in my ping list and I am too likely to miss them.
One encouraging thing I’ve seen which will never make the news, is that there has been a change in the leadership at SU. There’s a new chancellor who is a very conservative man with a strong religious background. Also, Fellowship of Christian Athletes is very active and prominent on the campus and having an impact. There is a lot of unity amongst the different faith groups there.
Now, that may not seem relevant to many as far as politics, but considering the size of Syracuse and the size of SU and the impact SU has on the community, if even for the number of people it employs in the area, this is very encouraging.
Neverdem has a list
That's what I recalled. Well, we'll just have to be diligent in pinging him to things we see that come up.
Thank you, metmom, for volunteering to host a “NY Conservative Alert” ping list. Perhaps neverdem can join forces by pinging his list as well. Please add me to your NY Conservative list!
Good thing we conservatives are here, as we win some elections, and we won against Cuomo's abortion expansion agenda last time. Around 1,000 of us demonstrated in Albany last time.
But Cuomo, and friends, are trying again.
Here's a Tweet on that:
"New Yorkers for Life @NYS4Life Jan 27 Not surprisingly #NYAssembly passed @NYGovCuomo's #AbortionExpansion Act today (80-36). Bill still blocked in #NYSenate."
Call your State Senators, and tell them to vote NO! on Abortion Expansion. It is expected the Senate will vote Friday.
I think the State Senate will stand strong on this again, but we never know. Contact them and pray.
My good friend, Assemblyman David DiPietro Fighting For The Unborn. David is a newer Christian and such a good guy.
“Assemblyman David DiPietro Fighting For The Unborn. “
Thanks, so glad to hear that, and I’ll remember that name!
This is why we conservatives should stay in NY State, if we possibly can. We can support, and vote for the good guys, and good causes.
That’s why Cuomo wants us out, but he’s not pushing me out of the State that my four grandparents settled if, after coming from Poland and Italy.
If Cuomo wants “extremists” out, HE should go, not us.
