On Oct. 1, 2012 the Obama administration started awarding bonus points to hospitals that spend the least on elderly patients. It will result in fewer knee replacements, hip replacements, angioplasty, bypass surgery and cataract operations.
These are the five procedures that have transformed aging for older Americans. They used to languish in wheelchairs and nursing homes due to arthritis, cataracts and heart disease. Now they lead active lives.
But the Obama administration is undoing that progress. By cutting $716 billion from future Medicare funding over the next decade and rewarding the hospitals that spend the least on seniors, the Obama health law will make these procedures hard to get and less safe.
The Obama health law creates two new entitlements for people under age 65 subsidies to buy private health plans and a vast expansion of Medicaid. More than half the cost of these entitlements is paid for by cutting what hospitals, doctors, hospice care, home care and Advantage plans are paid to care for seniors.

I just applied to the VA for disability late onset of diabetes along with a few other ailments caused by Agent Orange. I had no idea until a few weeks ago that I had been exposed to the stuff. I have to wonder if applying will put a target on my back.
AARP must be a “for profit” organization.
The whole point of Obamacare, and the reason Republicans will only oppose it verbally, is that it terminates the Medicare promise to pay, without limit and using OPM.
Wouldn’t this be medicare? Seniors are not even under Obamacare. Why can’t these writers get this right. It would bring a bit more credibility to the stories.
They laughed at her, remember?
716 BILLION dollars, over 10 short years, out of Medicare pays for the care of others and leaves you with Medicare that behaves like Medicade, because it will be reduced to a shell of what it use to be.
Medicade will not be senior friendly. Get it?
They are also making it impossible for people to obtain their pain medication. The DEA has basically declared war on pain patients here in FL, and I know other people in other states are suffering also.
Google “DEA war on pain”. Look for suicides to increase, as all the options for the elderly are being taken away. Time to just die quickly. First the unborn, now the disabled elderly are being slowly eliminated, just like in Nazi Germany.
No they weren't. Hussein and his people said that and immediately the head guy at AARP said that was not true. What happened was AARP people were with other people at the White House to hear Hussein and the news out of there by Hussein was AARP along with the others approved Hussein's healthcare.
You heard what Hussein and friends said and that was on the news, but the statement of management at AARP didn't get on the news. I get messages/news from AARP all the time and I know that happened as AARP sent a message to all of us about that so we would know Hussein and his people lied. Another lie from Hussein.
AARP itself does not sell insurance. Insurance companies bid to furnish various kinds of insurance to AARP members. UnitedHealthcare is the company right now that issues Medicaid and Regular Medicare medical insurance supplements. New York life issues life insurance to seniors through AARP. The Hartford Insurance Company issues Auto insurance for members.
I have a Hospital Indemnity Policy through UnitedHealthcare since I am a member of AARP that pays cash if I have to have day surgery or any treatment in a hospital. I had that policy on my husband and he was sick in the hospital for a while and I got a $10,000 check from that insurance company by just sending in the hospital bill.
I have long term care insurance through New York Life I think it is, that I got years ago through being a member of AARP. A long term care insurance policy is no longer offered through AARP - evidently no company is selling those policies anywhere now due to the expense.
All my policies are cheaper through those insurance companies providing insurance to AARP members. My business is with those insurance companies and not AARP management. Being a member does not mean I agree with management and I don't know or care what they say about anything, however, I did know they didn't endorse Hussein's plan.
Best idea ever. You want the 0 bummer care, you get it and YOU pay for it. Don't put it on the back of taxpayers.
Logan’s Run.
Medicade will not be senior friendly. Get it?
It never has been. Not when you need a supplement to ensure that you can afford Medicare.
This is where Baby Boomers begin to reap the bitter harvest. Rationing euthanasia all in the elder care manual. Better wake up Boomers we are under attack!
