John Boehner: 8 weeks - Graduating from Moeller in 1968, when U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War was at its peak, Boehner enlisted in the United States Navy but was honorably discharged after eight weeks because of a bad back
Eric Cantor: _____________
None, 8 weeks, and None
Yup, when I went through basic we had a couple guys who either decided to quit pretty quickly, or had dischargable medical issues.
By the time we graduated and went home, they were still helping out at Reception Battalion, doing stuff in the kitchen or whatnot. It’s easier to just finish basic.
Sure...we'd have saved ourselves from the Presidencies of:
Jefferson
Adams (both)
Lincoln
Just to name a few
But their military records or lack thereof are irrelevant to the discussion

I disagree. The perspective and experience of our leaders is indeed relevant when it comes to their decisions that can put our troops in harm’s way. Fighting political battles in the halls of congress is a far cry from putting your life on the line in a foreign hell hole.
Most professions and occupations demand perspective and experience from their leaders. This leads to better and wiser decisions.
Lincoln served during the Black Hawk War.
I just wished she’d missed me.
Thanks for your service.
That state which separates it’s warriors from it’s scholars will have it’s thinking done by cowards and fighting done by fools. - Thucydides, The Pelopenisian War
Just replace “scholars” with “Elected Officials”.
Why did Boehner get an honorable discharge and not a medical discharge after only eight weeks of service?
He had to be claiming prior injury so not service connected.
Therefore, he would get no military disability pay the rest of his life.
I can picture him during the State of the Union, turning and addressing Kongress and telling them, "If you f##K with me, I'll kill all of you."
I would support that. :-)
ROTFL John Boehner medically discharged because of a bad back? Sounds like he had no backbone, even back then!
Boehner’s service was in 1968, not in this modern military, or the post Vietnam military.
Have you ever heard of “credentialism?”
Oh boy now you did it, we are now going to have to watch him cry again.
Have you ever heard of credentialism?
___
Yes. Thanks for asking.
No problem. It saves on thinking.
But an HONORABLE discharge for only 8 weeks of service!!!?
Sheesh, that was easy.
Why did they not detect his prior injury during his medical exam?
Active Duty/Retiree ping.
