When Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the Supreme Courts Marxist bloc in ruling the Affordable Care Acts individual mandate constitutional, stunned conservatives immediately accused him of committing an act of judicial cowardice. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices, wrote the supremely hypocritical Roberts as he shattered one of the first rules of judicial restraint by rewriting sections of ObamaCare from the bench. Although he refused to protect the people from a wanton abuse of power, he was more than willing to protect DC lawmakers from the consequences of passing unconstitutional legislation.
But did Roberts manufacture his creative penalty-is-really-a-tax revision of ObamaCare for the purpose of bailing out the lawmakers who wrote the Act? Or was it actually his intention to help destroy them!
American Thinker contributor Bill Dunne believes that in his ObamaCare ruling, the chief justice set a diabolical trap designed to...

I don’t buy it for a second but if was proved that was why he ruled he should be impeached.
Curse. No lipstick on a pig for this one. In the long run, this will be devastating for America and the GOP. I am NOT one of those conservatives that thinks that running on Obamacare is a good thing. People will see it as just another giveaway and vote Dim. Running on Obamacare is a huge mistake.
The sad truth is that a voting majority is no longer interested in anything other than getting as much as they can from the public trough, at least at the national level.
George McGovern, who lost a 49 state landslide in 1972, and Walter Mondale, who repeated the feat in 1984, were both far more constitutionally grounded than the anti-Christ tool in office now.
Roberts has been eminently blackmailable since he adopted children illegally. That’s why he was nominated and confirmed as CJ, because everybody knew he could be easily manipulated. He’ll flop the other way if the boss ever changes.
No. At this point, even if Obamacare never gets off the ground, it still will have succeeded in destroying our country. Insurance companies will go broke, hospitals will go broke, millions of people will die needlessly, doctors will quit to the point where at least half of them are immigrant doctors brought in because they are cheaper, and on and on.
Maybe the Democrats have succeeded in destroying themselves. But the Republicans at this point are no better. No hope of saving the party, IMHO. And the Tea Party is too disorganized to step in, unless they manage to unite behind a truly capable leader such as Sarah Palin. But the news media may have destroyed that chance.
Roberts did what he was blackmailed to do. If anyone caught Obama in a political trap, it was Obama and his insane leftist pals.
Yes he is a traitor and he was also bribed.
Me too. His decision was totally in conflict with his record. It had to be a threat to his family rather than him. I think he would have gone public with a threat to his health or life. He knows that the mandate is unconstitutional and he knows that changing the law from the bench is unconstitutional. Any change in the law should have gone back through congress then to the president if it got through congress. I actually fault the lack of republican leadership in both house for that. Time will tell.
It was a lie—a fraud on all of us and the greenslip for unbridled gov’t.
I guess you have had no first person pain from obamacare... most Americans have and that pain’s source is known by the act’s namesake.
I hope it’s the law of unintended consequences and it bites them hard... but as for some master stroke of genius I doubt it.
I do think by calling it a tax... he did open the door for a lawsuit to challenge it as it did start in the senate.
He rejected just that argument by the the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons “without comment” just the other day.
It was a lie.
"YES"
(could have been a very short article).
Roberts helped reelect Obama. ‘Nuff said.
What you said.
ObamaCare has now led to a series of lawless steps in which Obama enforces parts of the law that he likes and simply announces the cancellation of parts he doesn't like. That precedent will be followed by a republican, in another loss for the American people, even if it advances a small corner of the republican agenda. The Constitution is now dead, as is the rule of law. We now have the politics of pull, in which FedGov takes from each in accordance with their willingness to follow written law and gives to each in accordance with their inside connections.
I frankly think that repeal of Obamacare, and the boost to the economy that one act would bring, should be the MOST important issue in 2014. There is a lot of meat for campaign speeches based on how the economy can soar without the limiting chains of government intervention, Obamacare being only the most recent, but the most immediately oppressive.
Why all these games? Why all these political machinations in the HOPES of achieving an outcome that will embarrass political rivals? Can we not be straight-forward anymore—point to the Constitution as a basis, a measure to conduct ourselves and keep ourselves in alignment?
I guess that’s just too honest, too proper. Let’s just play games with the foundation of this country. Gosh, I guess it doesn’t matter anyway...
Few will be good enough for some purists.
